Hi I'm Chandra

I grew up in Texas. I'm a nurse aid, wife, and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college graduate, wife to my high school sweetheart and mother to a bouncing baby boy. I was born and raised in deep east Texas and still call the Pineywoods home. I enjoy quilting, photography, and other crafty projects. I work part time and spend the rest at home with my sweet son and dear husband. I am currently working on writing a book about the trials in my life as well as the many blessings, because I feel that everyone has a story and someone just may benefit from relating to mine. My husband and I met at age 8 and were friends throughout school before dating at 16 and marrying at 21. Our little one will soon be 2 years old and we couldn't be more blessed to have him in our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born in this church, I believe that everyone must reach a point in their own lives where they make the decision to blindly follow their parents or to make their own way. Like many others, I reached this point as a young adult out on my own in college. Luckily I was blessed to be in a Single's group within the church and speak with other members my age that were facing the same struggles and ideas. For me, the gospel was a refuge from an otherwise crazy world. I saw illness, weakness, loss of faith, and even death everyday as I worked as a Nurse Aid on a Cancer unit. To me, there was no other way to find lasting happiness. I was relieved to know there was life after this, that even when I sinned, I could be clean again, and that I had a Father in Heaven that loved me dearly and protected me day to day. I watched my sister battle a rare form of bone cancer and knew it could only be our Father that was sustaining her day to day and slowly pulling her back to health. I watched my now husband struggle with his faith and beliefs and saw as he embraced the church as well. I saw his life turn around in a matter of weeks and saw him become the loving husband and father he is today. This gospel is my backbone. It changes lives, and it changed mine. There truly is nothing better on this earth to bring pure happiness and joy to your life.

How I live my faith

I love being Mormon. My husband and I both serve in our local church. I am blessed to teach the youngest children, the Sunbeams, or the 3-5 year olds. They are a blessing in my life just as my own child is. Sometimes the sweetest lessons you can learn in life come from the mouth of a sweet innocent child. These children are pure and kind just as Christ would have us be, and their love is truly unconditional. I also enjoy attending church activities with my family and our larger church family. It truly is enriching to be surrounded with others in their love of Christ.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

wards, stakes, and branches are how our church is divided into local congregations. Because every congregation in the church is to teach the same consistent material, the divisions help leaders easily oversea the affairs of an area. Each ward or branch is like a local family, there to help each other and support each other in times of joy and struggle, serving each other and loving one another. Show more Show less
