Hi I'm Joana Rodrigues

Portuguese by birth... American in speech... English through and through... And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in the countryside of Portugal, in a small town. I was born into a wonderful family! The majority of my family is Catholic, and I grew up in the Catholic faith. I went to College and studied to be a beautician, where I was then able to work just outside of the capital of Portugal. I love hanging out with friends, laughing, going to the movies, listening to music, dancing, and doing anything that involves spending time with other people. I love crafting, scrapbooking, making purses, clothes and really just creating anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because a great friend of mine introduced me to the church. After teaching me various things, and inviting me to church with his family and going, I had a desire to learn more. I remember praying silently to myself, that if this is what I needed to do, that Heavenly Father would send me the answers. A moment later a friend called the missionaries and asked if they would come and meet with me because I had so many questions. There response was that they were already on their way because they had felt someone had needed them there. It took me a while to join the church, because I wanted to be sure I was doing it for me, and that it was something between me and my Heavenly Father, not because that's what my friends wanted. I love this gospel. I know that God hears and answers prayers, I saw and knew it that day that the missionaries were already on their way, and I know it now. I am grateful for all that the Lord has given me, and I hope to give a small portion of that happiness I feel to those that I meet while on my mission.

How I live my faith

I am currently the only member in my family, and I wanted to do more to serve my Savior. After praying, and reading the Book of Mormon, I recieved answers that I needed to serve more by going on a full-time mission. Currently I am serving as a full-time missionary, but I have also served with the women of the ward, by being a teacher of the class, and also was president over the children, which included teaching and helping organize where I could.
