Hi I'm James Salmon

I grew up in Sammamamish washington. I loved to play all kinds of sports competitively and just for fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Washington state in the city of Sammamish. I've never moved anywhere but I love to travel to Canada, and other parts of the country. I've been to Hawaii and Mexico about the farthest place I've travelled away from home. I grew up playing lots of sports of which I was fairly successful. I was best at baseball, but I also played basketball and football on competitive teams. I grew up in a big family, I have 8 older brothers and sisters who are also my best friends. I've received my eagle scout award and my duty to god award. For my senior project I was an apprentice to a blacksmith and made my own knife with his help. I really enjoyed that. I am a student at BYU Idaho but currently I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS home and I was born into goodly parents who taught me correct principles and how to be kind to others and also how to look after myself. I was not forced into the church. If I had chosen not to become a member I know my parents would have still supported me and loved me. The choice was mine. I chose to become a member because I saw how happy my family was and other families in the church. From this I started to get my own testimony of the church. I have prayed for know for myself if the church is true and I know I have receive an answer for myself.

How I live my faith

I loved growing up in my ward. All the members were so nice and I feel comfortable around them. Some of the callings I've received have been the president of my group of boys when i was 12 and again when i was14, assistant ward clerk, as well as a home teacher for many years, and now I'm a missionary. I study the scriptures everyday and pray multiple times a day for strength and for guidance in my life. I've filled in as a teacher in my ward multiple time and I love teaching about Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

James Salmon
I am a missionary of the church right now. Many people wonder why we go out. I can tell you that the right answer for us missionaries is that we want to be here. We have something so precious so wonderful that we want to share it with everyone. We do not want to convince people that what we are telling them is true, we want them to find out for themselves that it is true. We proselyte so that we may find those who want to here our message and from first contact it is very clear who will listen and who will not. We are all still human beings, and going out and knocking on peoples doors can be difficult but we do it because we are called by a prophet of god to go teach the people. It is completely voluntary and is often the most rewarding two years that we have in our lives because we get to see people find so much joy in Gospel. Show more Show less
