Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a young adult who grew up in Utah. I'm going to serve a mission in St. Petersburg, Russia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young adult woman who loves living in Utah. Growing up with a divers climate, I love to mountain bike, swim, play ultimate frisbee, play pingpong and snowboard. I've gone to college the past two years with the goal to major in biology and minor in chemistry. I'm putting that goal on hold as I've accepted the call to serve in the Russia St. Petersburg mission. When I'm not in class, I'm usually with friends or family, or outside. I love being outside and I love playing with bugs; I know it may seem strange, but bugs really fascinate me. I also like to read books, especially the Book of Mormon, make friendship bracelets, and play the alto recorder.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the gospel has been apart of my life ever since. I've felt belonging and love within this gospel. No matter where I've gone, I've felt the welcoming hands of members and of those who care for me. It's great to say that I too, am apart of such a loving people. It's the love Christ has for me which encourages me to continue in His gospel. I have felt His love; it's a sweet, peaceful, and wonderful feeling.

How I live my faith

I was recently a secretary for a group of women in my community. I would send out a monthly email of events and happenings to these women to keep them informed. I also went around with some other women to visit the women in my community in order to make sure everyone was doing well, to see if anyone needed help, and to let the woment know they are loved. I was also apart of something called visiting teaching where another girl and I would go and visit two girls in my neighborhood. We'd sit and chat one with another and made sure the girls we visited were doing well.
