Hi I'm Joel Cook

I am a full-time student,I am part of a big family, I love to have fun and laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in the church my entire life. I have a wonderful mom and dad, and 5 other siblings, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. I have grown up my entire life in Pennsylvania and absolutely love the beauty that can be found there. I love to play volleyball and visit the beach! I Love visiting with family! I am so thankful for music. It has helped me get through some rough times in my life. I feel the spirit through gentle peaceful hymns and songs. I have served a full-time mission in The California Ventura Mission. I am currently attending college at BYUI.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because It is what brings me the most happiness in life. I know that this is Christ's church and he is at the center of it all. I am a member of this church because, I have received feelings of the spirit as I have attended Sunday meetings. I am a member of the church because I know that the fullness of the gospel is contained within it. It is not always an easy thing to be a part of. There are a lot of commandments to follow, a lot of rules to live by, but I know that for every commandment and rule we keep we are blessed. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me regardless. I know that the words in the scriptures are true. That is why I am still a member of this church. I am not perfect, I am not even close to perfect, I have a long long way to go, but I know that if I don't ever give up, and I give each day my absolute best, and I try to change and become more like the Savior than I can return and live with Him, my Father in Heaven, and my family forever! It's not easy here on this earth, but because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ I know I can find the strength and power to do all things required of me. I know that the Holy Ghost is real! I know that the temple truly is the house of God. I know its a place I want to be, where I feel closest to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ here on earth. I know that God has given us a prophet to help us along our path, and I KNOW he will never lead us astray. I know that Heavenly Father is very mindful of me and all of us. He knows when we need help and is quick to send it our way as we seek him. He has sent me help in my life, people who have helped me in the hardest times. I know that nothing in this life is by coincidence but it is part of a great plan. I know that prayer is a real power. Each of us, no matter what faith we may be, no matter what we have done, or where we are we CAN pray to our Father in Heaven and receive healing, power and love.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am grateful for the chances that I have been blessed with to share my faith with those around me. I try to really live my faith by example. I try to live and keep the commandments as closely as possible, and help others see that I really am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I have learned from the scriptures of how great a server Jesus Christ was and I try to emulate him in my life, by looking for opportunities to serve and taking them. I having the opportunity to serve in church teaching lessons about the Savior and His gospel. I have a strong testimony of hometeaching and I absolutely enjoy doing it. I love being able to go into the homes of members of the church and feeling the spirit with them. There really is nothing that brings me more happiness than serving and just focusing on trying to do and be the things that Christ himself would do and be.
