Hi I'm Kirk

I grew up in Utah, served a mission for my church in Hungary, and am a professional editor and a law student.

About Me

I'm married and my wife and I have five kids, a boy and four girls. I have worked as an editor in trade book publishing for 8 years and have just started law school--a dream of mine. My wife and I share a big interest in music: singing, playing the piano, and enjoying concerts and other great music. One of my favorite things to do is read comic books to my kids and act out all the voices for each character. My family makes life wonderful, even during hard times and tough challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the sacrifice of my ancestors who joined the LDS church when it was still young. One left family behind in England because she new the church was true and wanted to join up in the United States with the congregations here. Another was disowned when he joined the church and lost his sizable farm inheritance in Canada; he eventually served in the U.S. Army. Others crossed the plains with the Mormon pioneers to settle finally in the Rocky Mountains. Their legacy meant a lot to me while growing up, and I built on what they gave me. Through study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, attendance at church meetings, and fervent prayer, my testimony has grown and continues to grow as to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite parts of serving in our church is when, over the past year, I was able to play the piano for the children in my congregation. It was such a joy to see their faces light up as they sang songs about Jesus Christ and the restoration of the gospel in modern times through the prophet Joseph Smith. I also enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader with two of my good friends as we helped a group of about 10 boys learn all about personal fitness, study, and other important life lessons. I remember what an impact the church and Scouts had on me as a young man, and so giving back means a lot to me. We just moved from out of state into a new congregation, and it has been amazing to us how welcoming our new church family has been. Wherever we travel or move to, the church is always strong and built upon the same foundation: Christ's gospel in the scriptures and the direction of a living prophet and apostles.
