Hi I'm Diego

I'm one of 11 children, I love art and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 6th child in a family of 11 kids! I am currently studying business and art among other subjects in high school. I enjoy doing art in my spare time and reading. I moved to England with my family in 2007 and sometimes it has proved to be a challenge adapting to a new country, language, culture and of course, weather! However, England is pretty much my home now and I love living here.

Why I am a Mormon

Yes, I was born into the church but how blessed am I for that! From a small age I have been taught the teachings of Jesus Christ and His prophets, how to be a good person and a good Christian. At the age of 8 - the age from when people can be baptised - I was baptised and became an official member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I am so glad that it happened at the age of eight. It's an age where I can know what I am doing and know about the Church and our loving Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. However, when we are baptised we must try to gain a strong testimony and keep growing in our faith. I am a Mormon because of the great and clear guidelines that are set for me to be truly happy. I am a Mormon because if I do the right things I can live with my family and God forever. I am a Mormon because of the Prophet and our leaders who care so much for us and constantly talk to us and help us. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy and it makes me happy because it is true!

How I live my faith

Being a member of this church is a great thing even for Youth because we are encouraged to be involved and proactive within our church and community. From the age of 14, I was able to become a home teacher which means to visit and care for families within my ward with an elder companion which for a while was my dad. I have found it a very exciting and growing experience because I am able to care for families different from mine and teach them the gospel every month in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Also, I strive to be a Mormon not just on Sundays but everyday of the week. What's the point of going to church if at school I do the complete opposite I am taught? I pray individually everyday as well as with my family. I also read and study the scriptures to help me know for myself that this church is true and it is amazing what difference it can make by pondering on the words carefully and applying them to my own life. Some of the things that set me apart from a lot of teenagers these days is that I never swear, I don't drink or smoke (Word of Wisdom) and I keep the law of chastity even when all of these things have sadly become the norm for a lot of people. Do these "rules" restrain me? Take away my freedom? Not at all, in fact I'm free from things like depression, anger and other things that these choices can bring. And it makes me VERY happy!

Are Mormons Christians?

Diego
Yes, our church is centered around Jesus Christ and His teachings. That is why our church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We do not worship any prophets or teachers within our church but follow their words that come from Jesus. He suffered and died for our sins and lived a perfect life. People can claim we're not Christians because of the nickname Mormons however that comes from the book of scripture: The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
