Hi I'm Trent Sever

Fifth of five siblings and uncle of seven. I love to run and be fit. Serving a mission was the best thing I ever did.

About Me

I'm a student studying exercise science. I served a mission for the Church in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. I love to run and bike. I love my family I have two older sisters and two older brothers. I'm also the uncle of seven of the coolest people in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, but like everyone else had to learn that it was true for myself. I have always thought that the church was good, but it was only another part of my life through high school. Before my mission I read the Book of Mormon for the first time for myself. I was planing on serving a mission, but need to know for myself that the Church was of God. I received an answer through the Holy Ghost! As I prayed I felt such a powerful wave of emotion it was as if God said “Yes everything you have been taught in the Church is true.” I have hear and seen that very same thing happen to others on my mission. Every time I go to church read in the Bible and Book of Mormon my testimony is strengthened. The gospel of Jesus Christ has answered the most important questions for me in my life. No one could tell me what I have experienced in the Church is not true, it is. I try now to make it my life.

How I live my faith

I try to improve myself and become more like Christ. I am far from perfect, but I try to let the gospel of Christ influence everything in my life. I want to see everyone as God sees them, as a soul of great worth. The Church gives me great opportunities to serve God's children. I get to teach others the truths of the atonement. I need the atonement everyday only with the help of Jesus Christ can I overcome my weakness and sins.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Trent Sever
God is our Heavenly Father He loves us and wants the best for us. Prayer is the best way to speak with our Father in Heaven He wants to hear from us. I have felt God's love through prayer many times. Pray to Heavenly Father daily and you will receive blessings and come to know His will for you. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Trent Sever
The Book of Mormon is the word of God and ancient scripture written by many prophets like the Bible. It was written by prophets on the American continent between 400 B.C until about 600 A.D. These prophets prophesied of Jesus Christ, His birth, atonement, and divinity. It was translated through the power of God by Joseph Smith. It is proof to the world that Jesus Christ is the Savior, that God spoke through prophets in the Bible, and that God has called a prophet today I have prayed to know if The Book of Mormon is the word of God and received an answer through the Holy Ghost that it is. Anyone who wants to know if there is a God, if Jesus is His Son, and that they speak to us today can read The Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true. (Moroni 10:4). Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Trent Sever
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior, this means that through Him we can overcome death and sin. He volunteered to do the will of our Heavenly Father and pay the price for our sins and overcome death. If will follow Him through baptism, repentance, and live how He lived His Atonement makes it possible to be forgiven and live with Him and God after death. He knows us perfectly and knows our pains and everything we suffer in this life. If you feel like no one knows the struggles you have, I know that He does. He want to comfort us in the hardships of life. I have felt His love felt the joy of forgiveness that can come only through Him. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Trent Sever
God gives everyone the same chance to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. Millions of people have lived and died without the opportunity to hear the gospel of Christ and accept it. The bible teaches that baptism is needed to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5). We preform baptisms in the Temple for those that were not baptized on earth so that they too can accept or reject the Savior. Baptism for the dead, something unique to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is also taught in the Bible (1 Cor. 15:29). Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Trent Sever
Temples help us to achive eternal life for ourselves and for those who have died without the full gospel. The Temple is the house of God and everything that happens in the Temple is sacred. In the Temple we: Make covenants or promises with God Learn more about God's plan for us Preform proxy baptisms for the dead and other ordinances so that they too may receive all of God's blessings And preform marriages by the authority of God so that families can stay together after death The temple is a peaceful place were I can rest from the world. Every time I have ever been to the Temple I feel the Spirit of God recommit myself to do His will. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Trent Sever
Joseph Smith was a young boy in the early 1800s. Like you and I he had questions about religion and the purpose of life. When he was young he was looking for answers to these questions. He was christian and believed strongly in God, but didn't understand why there were so many different churchs. The different churchs taught different doctrines and claimed to be the only way to God. Joseph wanted to follow God and be a part of God's church. He read in the bible to learn from God and read in James 1:5 that man must ask God to know the truth. Joseph went to a grove of trees to be alone and ask God through prayer which church he should join. God the Father and His son Jesus Christ came to Joseph Smith as he was praying and told him no church had the full true or authority of God. Joseph was later called as a prophet and given the authority do the work of God on earth just as Moses or Peter. Through Joseph God established The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As prof to the world that this work was from God Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, an ancient record of scripture, through the power of God. Joseph Smith was a man called of God to restore the chruch Jesus Christ organized. I know this through pray, you can know for yourself if this is true by studying the Book of Mormon and asking God if it is true. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Trent Sever
Heavenly Father wants to answer our questions. He tells us to ask and promises we shall given answers (Matt. 7:7). We must do the asking, seeking, and knocking and God will answer. God has said that by their fruits ye shall know them, the Book of Mormon is fruit of the Church. God has given it as proof that Joesph Smith was called as a prophet and the authority of God leads the Church. God never expect us to simple believe others without giving us an answer Himself. You can study the Book of Mormon and pray to God to know if it is true and if The LDS Church today is lead by Him. He will answer your prayer through the Holy Ghost and you will feel and know that it is true (James 1:5, Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4-5). Show more Show less
