Hi I'm Jamie

I'm Peruvian. I'm a returned missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 years old and I was born in Chiclayo, Peru. I graduated from BYU-Idaho December 2011 in nursing. Going to school there changed my life. My relationship with my Heavenly Father is so much stronger and my understanding of the basics of the gospel is much more rooted. I served in the Florida Tampa Mission and loved it! It wasn't always easy but it's still changing my perspective and my ability to love people. I'm so grateful for the time I had to serve the Lord and help the kingdom grow! I love music and I played clarinet in high school and a little in university. Since the mission, I have come to love biking!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but I had to come to know for myself whether these things were true or not. I remember praying when I was about 10 years-old and asking God if the Book of Mormon was true. I didn't get an answer right away, so I had to continue to act. I kept reading the Book of Mormon, kept praying and kept going to church. Those basic things provided opportunities for me to be able to feel the Spirit and be able to recognize that that was my answer and I knew it was true! But this isn't enough. I still need to endure to the end or in other words continue building my faith and reading the Book of Mormon, keep praying, keep going to church and participating in the church programs because this provides opportunities for me to recognized the Spirit and strengthen my foundation. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and the Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. It has blessed and strengthened my life!

How I live my faith

I grew up in South Florida and there aren't a lot of members here so quickly I had to make up my mind on whose team I was going to be on; the Lord's or the world's. When I gained a testimony about the Book of Mormon and the Church, I decided that I was going to try my best to be an example of the believers and to "stand as a witness of God in all times, in all things and in all places". I'm not perfect and I have made mistakes but the sacrifice of Christ is real and He can help us change and become better than what we are today. Because of this knowledge, I wanted to share it with all people! So, I turned my papers in and I was called as a full time missionary. I know that the more we understand the Atonement, or sacrifice of Christ, our desire to share the gospel increases. I love this gospel and Christ and I know that by sharing the gospel, others can have the blessings and happiness that I have.
