Hi I'm Joanne

I'm from Utah and now live in California. I am a professional musician who plays piano, viola and organ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with four children. My husband is not a Mormon but he is very supportive of the church and attends church services on a regular basis. He even sings with the choir. Our oldest child just left for college. I am a professional musician with a Master's degree in piano performance and a Bachelor's degree in viola and piano performance. I teach piano lessons to kids and adults of all ages. I also volunteer at my kids' schools, in the Scouting program and on my music teachers' board. I was the PTA President at the local elementary school and try to stay involved in my community. I love to travel to National Parks with my family and visit our out-of-state family as much as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because all sides of my family became Mormon back in the mid 1800's. Most of those family members were from the East Coast of the U.S., England or Denmark and all joined the church upon hearing the message from the missionaries. I strongly believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of the gospel and the same priesthood that Christ gave his apostles when he was alive on the earth. I believe that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and that he translated The Book of Mormon, with divine assistance. I know that we have a living prophet today who receives direct revelation from Jesus Christ which is to assist, guide and warn us. I know that if I follow the prophet, keep the commandments, live righteously and keep the covenants that I have made, that I can be truly happy and return to Heavenly Father again someday.

How I live my faith

I am the organist for our ward congregation in addition to being the pianist for the church choir. I help organize the musical groups that perform in our meetings. I sometimes substitute as the teacher in my children's Sunday School classes as well as in the nursery on occasion. I enjoy visiting other women from our ward and getting to know them better. When someone has a baby or is sick, I sometimes make a meal for them. I also enjoy helping others if they need to move.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Joanne
My family is so important to me and I want to be with them forever. Heavenly Father wants men and women to get married and have children if they are able to. If they are sealed in the temple, they can be together forever if they live righteously. Show more Show less
