Hi I'm Sam

I play the oboe, am studying music therapy, and love wearing polka dots. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am studying music therapy at Utah State University. I know the power of music is real and know it is a blessing from God! I play the oboe, piano, and guitar. I served a LDS mission in Russia for 18 months and loved it! I recently married an amazing man who is also a university student. We love to have fun doing anything from experimenting in the kitchen to hiking to discovering random local adventures. Polka dots, blue houses, and pomegranates are some of my favorite things. I love cheeseburgers and peanut butter (but not together). Life's an adventure and I'm always looking to live it to the fullest!

Why I am a Mormon

If I had to answer why I'm a Mormon in one word, it would be "happiness." I grew up in the church, but ever since I was little I've felt God's love for me. As I've grown older I have learned for myself of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By following Christ I have been able to feel true joy. I'm the oldest child, but Christ has always been my older brother I can look up to as a perfect example. The knowledge that I have an eternal family sealed in the temple for eternity brings me great joy and peace. The knowledge that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me so much lets me know who I am and guides my life. The knowledge that Christ made it possible for me to repent and continually become better brings me so much hope. This Church brings me happiness beyond measure.

How I live my faith

I believe in living my faith through small and simple actions. I strive to reach out and help those around me even if it's something as simple as being a true friend. My husband and I teach a class during church for the children. We get to teach them about Christ and being a good member of their families and the community.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets, similar to the Bible. Lehi, a prophet who lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. was commanded by God to lead a small amount of people to the American continent. The writings in the Book of Mormon were written by prophets in this area. The book testifies of Jesus Christ and his love for all of us. The crowning event of the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ comes and visits the people in America after he has been resurrected. While Joseph Smith translated the book from it's ancient language, he was not the author. The Book of Mormon and Bible go hand in hand and support each other. Show more Show less
