Hi I'm Jerry

Born and raised in Utah. Artist, Printer, Realtor, Businessman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Father of 4. Stepfather of 5. Grandfather of 17 (and counting). I've always been an artist and would liked to have earned my living creating watercolor and oil paintings. Instead I became a printer and put 25 years into that career before realizing I needed more interaction with others to find true job satisfaction. I sold real estate for a number of years and had a variety of office jobs. I've had my own art store, print shop, and tried a couple multi-level businesses. I'm a fan of college football, BYU in particular, and I like watching professional soccer. I coached my sons when they were younger and the sport grew on me until I couldn't give it up. I appreciate good food and I am fortunate to have a wife that likes to cook the things I like to eat. Together we enjoy spending time with family and friends. I still struggle to find time to do my art work but I have plans to pick it up again in my retirement. I like movies; westerns, comedies, and sci-fi. I also love music of all kinds. It's a talent I wasn't blessed with so I'm forced to enjoy the talents of others. I have a lot to be thankful for. A happy marriage, a great multi-generational family, a warm home, and a good job. Most of all I'm thankful for the teachings of my parents who instilled in me a love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and a desire to do good. I have truly been blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon faith but I wasn't forced to attend Church. I've had numerous opportunities to slip quietly away and never attend again. But there is something within me that will not allow that. I cannot deny what I know to be true. I don't need scientific evidence to know that God lives. I feel his presence in my life when I live according to His laws and when I obey His commandments. I have learned that I am happiest when I follow the example of my Savior and live an honest life. I have learned to recognize the promptings of the spirit and been able to identify how those promptings have blessed my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my redeemer and Savior. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it's truthfulness. I testify that it is the word of God. It is a companion to the Bible in sharing the world-wide mission of our Savior. I know that it was translated by the gift and power of the Holy Spirit. Because I have felt a witness of this within my heart I can also testify that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. There is no other way that he could have brought forth a true book of scripture without being ordained of God to do so. I can faithfully witness that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is led today by a living prophet of God. A man who communes with deity. A man called and ordained to lead God's children through this life and to prepare them for the next. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is Gods message to us in these days. Written by ancient prophets and brought forth to bless our lives.

How I live my faith

I strive to live a life that in centered in Christ. I enjoy reading the scriptures and say my daily prayers. I always express my love for my Savior and His atoning sacrifice. I try to follow His example by sacrificing some of my personal time and talents to help others. I've served in a wide assortment of callings in the Church. As a young man I served a mission. And as an adult I've taught the children in Primary, worked with the Cub Scouts, served as the Young Mens President, as Counselor in the Elders Quorum, as Sunday School Teacher, Ward Clerk, and as a Counselor in two separate Bishoprics. I've also been welcomed into many homes as a home teacher to their families. Through the years I have found that I am most happy when I am serving others. The Church gives me opportunities to grow and develop my abilities while I serve the members of my ward. I overcame a fear of being in front of people by accepting the invitation to speak in Church meeting. This simple thing benefited me in my career and gave me courage to speak in business meetings and to make presentations to associates and clients. I believe that when we serve the Lord he in turn blesses us accordingly with those things that will give us a more comfortable and enjoyable life. I strive to keep the covenants I've made with my Father in heaven by obeying his commandments. It hasn't always been easy. I've struggled to overcome habits and maintain self-control. I've often needed to cry out to Him in prayer. He's always been there. Not always in the way I'd ask, but when I look back He was always there in the way that was best for me. I know that God lives. I know that He hears and answers my prayers. Because of this my faith is strong and I can face life without fear.
