Hi I'm April

Raised in California and New Hampshire. Pageant title holder & director, home decor, and real estate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a wife, mother and grandmother. My husband and I have nine children and seventeen grandchildren between us. My family, God, friends and country are the most important things in my life. My passion for genealogy, history, home decor and cooking keep me busy. I am intrigued with politics and follow it faithfully. Other things I love: Discovering our family history. Spending time near the ocean, lakes and mountains. Snorkeling and camping. Traveling, meeting new people and enjoying different cultures. Animals, especially puppies, kittens, horses, parakeets and dolphins. Picnics, thunderstorms, and surrounded by nature. Watching movies with my sweetheart. Talking with our kids, and playing with grand-kids. Long talks with my husband reflecting on our life and plans for the future. My faith and my church. I was born in California and spent my childhood there and in New Hampshire. I have also lived in Oregon, Utah, Hawaii and Texas. I have been in business for myself most of my life. I've owned clothing, gift and home decor stores, and now enjoy selling home decor online. I have worked in real estate and finance as a realtor, loan officer and project director for real estate auctions. I have directed and produced beauty pageants for juniors, teens and young women. I was Mrs. Utah in the Mrs. America pageant, and Mrs. Hawaii in the Mrs. United States pageant, and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints in 1972 at the age of 19 by a young woman who bravely knocked on my door. She wasn’t a missionary, but was visiting a friend who lived below my apartment. She saw me gardening earlier in the day. I was wearing a t-shirt which read, "Smile God Loves You". I politely said, “Hello”. She smiled and asked what church I belonged to. We chatted for just a few minutes at the door. I invited her in. She told me about her church and asked if I would like to talk to the missionaries. I said yes, and started taking the missionary discussions for the next two weeks. I knew what I was learning was true. Each night I prayed about what I had been taught and the Spirit of the Lord witnessed in my heart that it was of God, and it was true. I felt as though I already knew what I was being taught. It was like coming home after a long absence. I was baptized two weeks after Patty and I first met at my front door. That was forty two years ago. The Gospel is my life now. I live for the Savior, and my Heavenly Father. I am eternally grateful that Patty had the courage to share the Gospel with me. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without it. Thank you for loving Jesus Christ Patty, and for sharing His message with me. I love Him too, and want to live with Him again someday. I want to share His Gospel. I am proud and blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. The Book of Mormon is the word of God as is the Bible. It is another testament that Jesus lives, and is the Redeemer and Savior of the world.

How I live my faith

I live my life by following our Savior Jesus Christ's teachings. I love and serve others to the best of my ability. I know we're all Heavenly Father's children, and as such, each person deserves respect and kindness, love and appreciation. The Savior teaches us to "Love one another, as I have loved you." I try my best to live my life as the Lord has asked us to do. Each day I continue to strive to be a better person. I have served in various capacities in church such as working with the women, young women, children, and the missionary program. I have worked in scouting, teaching Sunday school, leadership roles serving the women of my wards, and in the children's programs. I'm now serving as a ward missionary. I love the missionary program! We have the missionaries serving in our area over for dinner often. We help them by having investigators (those wanting to learn more of our faith) in our home to have the missionary discussions, or in the home of the investigators. I love our Sunday school class for missionaries and investigators. It's such a blessing to teach others of our faith in Jesus Christ, and our beliefs. We love the missionaries and feel as though our kids. Their away from home for eighteen months for Sisters, and two years for Elders serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel. My husband and I love working with these amazing young missionaries. They are God's Army.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

April
I believe the Bible to be Holy scripture and the word of God as far as it's translated correctly. I love the Bible and read it often. The examples of holy prophets and stories of the Old and New Testament are faith building scripture. I was raised on loving and studying the Bible. My mother and grandmother taught me a deep reference and respect for the Bible. My grandmother read it cover to cover many times. I love to read about Jesus Christ's ministry in the Holy Land. His ministry, life and atoning sacrifice for me and all mankind is found in it's pages. I also believe the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, is Holy scripture and the word of God. It was translated through the power of God and is a record of God's dealings with the inhabitants of ancient America (2000 BC - 400 AD). I love the Book of Mormon. I read it every day. I gain strength from it. It testifies of Christ and helps me know Him better. I love reading the accounts of Him visiting the people in the Americas after his crucifixion. His love and tenderness shown to the inhabitants of this continent help me understand His love for each of us. The many prophets and every day people who fill the pages of the Book of Mormon gives me increased faith and helps me deal with many of life's challenges. I am so blessed to have the Bible and the Book of Mormon to study and pattern my life after. I cherish both of these holy books of scripture. Show more Show less
