Hi I'm Geoff

I'm a telecommunications engineer, a woodworker and hold a local elected office and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 63 years old father of six. My wife and I have been married for 42 years. I have been working in the telecommunications industry for over 36 years. I have designed and built much of my present company’s internet network. Today I help companies design the next generation complex networks necessary to carry their business information in this digital age. I have many hobbies because I like to create with my hands. I love woodworking and build furniture when I get the time. I just won my first election and donate time to my neighbors as their Percent Committee Officer to represent their issues to sate and local officials . I also volunteer to for the Clark County Amateur Radio Club, the oldest service club in Clark County. I hold an FCC amateur Extra license and am a volunteer Examiner for the American Radio Relay League. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

While I an a 6th generation Latter Day Saint, I like all people had to have that time when I needed to know for myself why I was here, where I came form and what could I expect from the future. I was quite a process but I came to know for myself an absolute knowledge of the truth that was laid before me. Being a seeker of truth I had to embrace this gospel for the truth that is holds. I have faith, hope and now knowledge and I like Joseph Smith could not deny it. I believe, I know. I am a Latter day Saint. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve as one of twelve High Councilor who's assignment is to assist the Stake Presidency in caring for one of our ten wards (Local units) and other task specific assignments like emergency preparedness. It is a joy to be able to interact with so many people from all walks of life. It brings true happiness when I am engaged is such undertakings. I teach many different religious subjects to 10 congregations as assigned by my leaders. I find that preparation for these builds my understanding of the gospel in many ways. I have become a student of history in the process.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Because Jesus Christ established the method of baptism while on the earth. In fact it was the first official act of his ministry. He did require baptism for the remission of his sins because he was sinless. He was baptized to teach us all how we were to follow him. By the 4th century the barbarians who had taken on Christianity as their religion had done away with the proscribed method given by Jesus when he went to John. This is only one of the reasons the Church of Jesus Christ had to be restored to the earth. Show more Show less
