Hi I'm Kurtis Beaumont

I'm Canadian. Je parle Français. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like working all day and then hanging out all night with my friends. I play all kinds of sports, but specifically soccer. I started playing soccer when I was about 5 or 6 and I love the game. I played fairly competitively for a couple of years and that was the best, but now I like to just kick around with the guys. I love being outside, the outdoors, backpacking, camping: just another reason why I love Canada. I love my family, my parents, my two older brothers and my younger sister and am grateful to have each of them in my life. I love spending time with them. They have shaped my life and I want to live with them forever. I graduated from high school in 2011 then studied general sciences for a year at university, but I'm not really sure what I'm going to major in, or do in the long run. However, I am currently serving a 2 year mission for my church in the Montreal Canada. I have put my school, career, friends and family, essentially everything on hold to serve this mission because I know that what I am doing is right and what God wants. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I'm sharing this glad message with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it just makes sense. The teachings of the church have greatly enhanced my life. I have been taught from a young age that Jesus died for me and that through His Atonement, I can return to live with my Heavenly Father again after I die. My family is so important to me and the family is central to God's plan for each one of us. I know that I will be able to live with my family for eternity and the church has opened the way for me to obtain and achieve that blessing. I am a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon and my ever-growing testimony of it. Every time I read, I learn something that applies to my life and that will make me a better person. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because of the feelings I have felt in response to my prayers. Because of that, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God in these latter-days and indeed saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and restored the Church of Christ to the earth. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, and he leads and guides the church in all its affairs. I have made mistakes, but through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I have felt the feelings of grief and guilt taken from me and replaced with cleanliness and peace. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and is the way to return to live with our families and with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and always will be.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I love serving others and that really is the center on which my faith is based: trying to emulate the Saviour's example. Throughout my membership, I have been given many opportunities to serve in various capacities within the church and in the community. I became involved in various community service projects through the church and through Scouts Canada that ranged from working at the soup line and food bank to helping people move and painting fences. At school, I volunteered as part of an after-school tutoring program where I could share what I understood with those that were having difficulty. Right before I came out on my mission, I served as a children's teacher in Sunday School for the 9-10 year old children. This was one of my favourite callings as I had the opportunity to work with the children and help them to learn about Jesus Christ and God's plan for us. Now I'm a missionary and I am doing full-time service to help others find the same joy that I have found through living my faith.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Kurtis Beaumont
I am a missionary for the church and I will be serving in the Province of Quebec until the Summer of 2014. I have saved money since I was young to be able to pay my own way for the next 2 years. I am glad that I have been able to save and make this donation of time and effort to the church and also to the people of Quebec. Show more Show less
