Hi I'm Amy Foster

I'm a wife & mother of 5 beautiful children. I'm a mormon. Besides my family & my faith, music is my greatest passion.

About Me

I love oil painting, singing, playing the piano & guitar, writing songs, baking, sewing, crafting, and being with my family. I was born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I came from a very close-knit family. From a very early age, though I didn't completely understand the doctrine of the church, I always felt a peaceful spirit when I went to church. I knew in my heart that the things I was being taught were true. As I grew up, I started to understand those teachings and chose to put them into practice. I certainly didn't live without struggles. But with the scriptures as my "how-to manual" and my Heavenly Father's guidance through prayer and the Holy Ghost, I had the tools I needed to be able to combat any situation. I was able to overcome various trials, having been strengthened along the way. I met my husband and was married just months later. We've been married 12 1/2 years and have 5 children. We currently live in St. George happily serving the Lord and others through our church callings and by striving to live the principles of the gospel of JESUS CHRIST. We aren't perfect, but we're happy as we work together to strengthen our family and learn from our mistakes. Together, our family enjoys playing music, attending church & ward activities, games, baking, camping, hiking, 4-wheeling, swimming, reading, arts & crafts, rennovating our home, and are currently studying the Book of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

In my life, I've gone through different phases and levels of gospel commitment on my end. It's simple. When I LIVE Christ's teachings, not just believe them or accept them (or Him--Jesus), I am happiest and am blessed. When I fall short or make poor choices, I don't like the way I feel. Something's missing...some part of me feels empty or unfulfilled. Though the church seems full of rules and restrictions, it's really the opposite. By doing what Jesus Christ would have us do, we have more freedoms...freedom from addictions, legal consequences, feelings of guilt and shame. Instead, we're full of the spirit and have feelings of comfort and content. Spiritual contentment is worth more to me than anything. We also have a prophet who speaks with God and gives us modern-day guidance. This world is so crazy and lost in many ways, but having a living prophet helps us tackle the specific problems that face us today. His teachings come directly from God. We can't go wrong if we follow him. We are able to skip past the things of this world that can be harmful to our spirits and can more freely enjoy the beauty and wonder this world has to offer. I love this gospel. I love the Book of Mormon. I love the Bible. I love the way I feel when I read the scriptures. Not only do they help me keep an eternal perspective on life, but they help me to see past my trials and focus more on serving others. As I do, my burdens become lighter. Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Mosiah 18:10 "Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?" I have been converted & am forever committed to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, the Mormon (Latter Day Saint) church!

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving the primary children in our ward as a counselor and love it!!! All 5 of my own children are also primary-age. I try to live my faith by studying the scriptures and following their teachings. I'm prayerful as I study so I can better understand the things I read. As I do, the spirit touches my heart and testifies the truthfulness of the things I study. I learn the things that I specifically need in my life at the time which strengthens me. I love attending church weekly and thrive on the spirit I feel there. I'm uplifted and edified and feel like I can better tackle my hectic weeks after partaking of the spirit at church. One of my favorite things to do is to keep a journal of spiritual experiences and thoughts and impressions that have come to me through the spirit. I then take those words and arrange them to song. I love the gospel with all of my heart and enjoy sharing those things that make me happy with my family and friends through song. I believe everyone is given special talents which are unique to them. For years, I've kept mine hidden. I recently started sharing them and have received blessing after blessing after doing so. I'm the happiest when I'm creating and progressing in my understanding of the doctrines of this church...and then sharing what I know. I have a lot to learn, but find a deep, profound joy as I grow in faith. I love teaching my children the lessons I've learned in hopes that they, too, will enjoy the peace, happiness, and fulfillment that comes from obeying the commandments and living the principles of the church. I want them to know the Savior and strive to be like him. My favorite scripture is simple but has given me the strength to trust in God in all I do and has served as a reminder to be prayerful in every decision I make. As I do, I have no need to fear. The Lord is on our side as we work to live righteously. It is found in the Doctrine & Covenants 6:36- "Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."
