Hi I'm Jared Sampson

I'm a musician, a performer in DCI and WGI, an athlete, a friend, a returned missionary from Cape Verde, Africa, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I started piano when I was but a young lad and have picked up many instruments since then, spending most of my focus on Tuba and Percussion. I currently and studying music education at BYU. I have had the opportunity to play in many different environments, including six years of high school marching band, five years of independent open indoor percussion, two years with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps (which has been a great blessing for me as a member of this church), one year with the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps, and two years with the BYU Cougar marching band. I have also been blessed with many playing opportunities in a number of different settings and situations which have helped me develop the musical versatility that I enjoy today. I also like running and ultimate Frisbee along with most other sports. I love my family and my great friends. I served as a full time missionary in Cape Verde, Africa which is the best place on earth and where my heart still is. I hope to continue to be a teacher of truth throughout the rest of my career and life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because I love it. I have had people come up to me in the past and ask me why I was reading the Book of Mormon, or why I was reading the Bible. That's a lot of pages. Why do I go to church every week? Because I love it and it brings me daily happiness. I want to share the joy of the restored gospel with everyone.

How I live my faith

As a member of this church, I have received the Priesthood of God. This power to act in his name requires great responsibility which helps make me more like him. I get to serve others on a regular basis, visiting and checking up with the needs of other families, and sharing the words of the Prophet and the Apostles. A big responsibility in my life right now is preparing to serve a full time mission. I do this by studying on my own, attending classes, and practicing all I can. I try to live the way the Savior would if he were here on earth, and although I am not perfect, I live my faith by repenting and being forgiven, and doing better on a regular basis. I live my faith by giving my all, and not giving up when I fall over, but by getting up again stronger.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jared Sampson
Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ is the best. It is like being a normal person except for without all of the things that make life bad. Some people view being a Mormon as living a way that you can't do certain things, but I know that I will be completely happy if I live everything perfectly. All of my unhappiness can be solved by being a better Mormon and by following those commandments and suggestions that are associated with that role. Show more Show less
