Hi I'm Brendon

I am a Michiganer, I love to laugh and be outdoors, I love to be active including triathlons and marathons, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am big into sports and keeping active. I ran in a sprint triathlon and won for my age bracket. I have also run a marathon. My family is so active that we go for a 10 mile run for the 4th of July and 5 miles for Thanksgiving. I love to do service. I am an Eagle Scout with 3 palms. I have continued to stay active in scouting by helping the younger scouts to learn more about what merit badges they are trying to accomplish along with being a good example. I went to college at Brigham Young University in Idaho. I am studying Business Management and am going into finance. I also used to work at a "Y" which was formerly called the YMCA. I was a lifeguard under the Ellis program and likewise was challenged to keep up my skills and knowledge so that I could save people and not fail the quarterly inspections. I ended up saving multiple people because of being prepared to save someone and vigilant in my scanning. I truly love what the Savior has done for me and although I would consider myself successful so far, I am nothing if he didn't come here to this earth. I am privileged to read about him and be his hands in helping everyone around me. It is the best feeling when I am able to help someone that could use a little bit of help, support, or even love.

Why I am a Mormon

At one point I did not know if this church or this gospel was even true. It was not until I took it upon myself to truly search it out for myself that I got my answer. I searched many religions so that I wasn't biased, I asked my friends on what they believe, and I asked Heavenly Father. The Holy Ghost (Spirit) was the one that told me in an overwhelming way that it was true. All of a sudden I was crying because of the power that I felt. Ever since then I have been studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible so that I could stay worthy of having that same feeling again and I can testify that I have felt a similar feeling while I read and ponder on the doctrines that those books possess. I have gained knowledge of revelation by going to Heavenly Father with a question and then reading the scriptures. I have found that if I am in the right mind set, I really want the answer and I am worthy of the answer I will get one. Now this has came to me in a couple different ways: Ah-ha moments where I remember something that I had learned before, the answer in the scriptures that I am reading, a good feeling or thought in my head which answers the question, and other people talking to me and the answer comes from what we were talking about. The answer usually gets followed up by the Holy Ghost (Spirit) testifying of the truthfulness of the answer. I would invite you to try it out for yourself to find your answers in life.

How I live my faith

I am very involved in service and likewise have found joy in telling others about it. I have lived my life in a way that makes me feel close to my Heavenly Father. I look forward to seeing him one day. Life with no regrets is the only way life should be lived. I have been able to share my beliefs with others and have found that they are very open to have a discussion on faith and beliefs. As a Mormon looking at other faith alongside my own I can testify that the other churches have a lot of truthful aspects to them and enjoy listening to their truth. I am glad to know that God is not a God of confusion and that whenever I need to know or learn more I can turn to him in prayer and read from his words in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. The Bible and Book of Mormon are hard to read when you start, but as I have bettered myself and focused on the end goal it becomes a lot easier. It takes some time, diligence, and willpower to understand the importance of the scriptures that is contained inside. With both books read together I was able to understand the big goal that I was trying to achieve. For me, this was understanding and a testimony of what God's Truth is and from what source it came from. I enjoy the prompting of the Holy Ghost and how much it testifies to let us know what is true. For everyone it is different. For me it is thoughts and feelings that this is true.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Brendon
As a converted member of this church, I consider it an honor to be able to go out and teach what I know is true to everyone that will listen to me. Although at times it looks like we are trying to sell something as we walk up to a door, we truelly want to share what has been able to help us in our lives. Show more Show less
