Hi I'm Randy

I love running whenever I can, and leafing through a good book. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, but lived in Mesa all my life. I've loved to run since junior high, and was blessed to be able to run on scholarship for a junior college. I also like to play other sports, but mostly running! I have always liked to read, whether things online or page by page with something from the library. It is a little weird, but I actually enjoy math! It is my best subject in school, but I don't enjoy homework nearly as much. I plan on doing something with engineering as my major, but no decisions yet!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, both of my parents joined the Church in their teens. I went to Church with my family mainly because it was what we did, and many of my friends were members. I occasionally moaned and groaned as most teens do, but I kept going to church and attending seminary, religious classes for high school students during the school day to learn and read the scriptures. I never really had a problem with the Church, but I didn't know for myself that what my parents had taught me were true. After praying with more intent and desire, and months' of daily reading, I realized one day that I knew all along that the Church was true. Looking back, I never truly doubted or questioned, I just couldn't fit all the pieces together of what I was learning and feeling. I know now that from the quiet promptings from the Spirit, or Holy Ghost, that this is the Lord's Church; the Book of Mormon is simply more of God's word to help us; that Joseph Smith was another prophet, the way the Master has always worked; and that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet today. But most importantly, I know that Christ lives, and that our Father in Heaven is real and loves us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being faithful to the commandments God has given me. I love to go out and help others, with their yard, homes, or anything else they might need assistance with. As a full-time missionary, I've raked leaves, shoveled snow, put up fences, fixed roofs, and volunteered at the local charity to help give out food to the poor and needy. But most importantly, I treasure the moments I have been given to help another human being understand how much God loves them, is mindful of their unique situation, and desires their happiness. I get to go out each and every day for two years to help others know what their purpose is in life, and share the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
