Hi I'm Harrison

I'm a creator. I'm a sandwich lover. I like to make people happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm doing a lot of things mostly because I'm not sure what I want to do. I would love to own a sandwich shop, sandwichs are my favorite, but I'm not exactly a business man. I'm all kinds of creative but I'm not sure how to apply it. I make stories all the time but I'm terrible about writing them down. Most of all I love to help people. I've been playing "psychologist" for my friends for years. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I have a chance to help someone with something they struggle to do for themselves. Sometimes I feel a little lost about what to do with myself but my desire to help people is the one thing that I'm never unsure of.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church and just like anyone else I eventually came to a point where I had to find out for myself if the teachings are true. When I reached that point of my life the way I was living was stearing me away from the Mormon beliefs I had grown up with. And I was miserable. There are lessons I wish I had learned through the example of others rather than my own experience, but I did learn them. Life is just better this way. It makes sense to me. The knowledge the gospel of this church gives me gets me through depression and self-doubt. It helps make decisions with far better outcomes than those I would otherwise make. I know myself and I know what I could very easily become if I didn't have this faith to guide me. I don't want to become that. I want to be someone my parents are proud of. I want to be someone who is truly worthy of the wonderful wife I someday hope to find. And most of all I want to return to my Heavenly Father someday and know that I am worthy to live in his presence.

How I live my faith

I've lived my faith in a number of ways. There have been times when I'm not as strong in my faith as I should have been and it was more like I was just going through the motions. Other times I have been very solid and look forward to attending church each week. Those times always last longer than the low points. The way I've grown up, and seeing the way others grow up, I can tell the difference. My families beliefs have kept us all very close while others can barely grasp the concept of having a meal as a family. So I always try to come back to living in a way that applies my beliefs to all aspects of my life.

What is being a Mormon like?

Harrison
Being a Mormon is great. People think it's full of restrictions and rules, but if it was really like that I could easily just choose not to follow them. The things this church asks us not to do are for our own good, and I can see those positive effects in my life. I enjoy a very close connection with all of my family because of the teachings of our church. My life is the same as everyone else, except maybe a little more hopeful. Show more Show less
