Hi I'm Matt

I'm a husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Matt and I'm a convert to this church. I have been a member since October 2011, and during my time as a member I have been incredibly blessed. I'm from Preston, England, and I love the history of the church in Preston. I feel so blessed to live in Preston surrounded by so much church history. In June 2012 I married the most wonderful woman I've ever met and we were sealed for eternity in the Preston Temple in December 2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I first began investigating the church in September 2011 while trying to understand my wife's faith better (she was then my girlfriend), and quickly realised it was the true church. I met with the missionaries one evening early in October 2011, and was baptized three weeks later. Reading Gospel Principles convinced me that I had finally found my faith after many years of searching, and meeting with the missionaries cemented that fact. I have been so incredibly blessed since becoming a member of the church, and continue to be amazed at the blessings God gives me. I cannot explain my faith in words alone. My faith has changed my life in so many wonderful ways, and I'm so incredibly grateful for my wife for introducing me to the church, and to the many missionaries I have met in the past year who have guided me and helped me.

How I live my faith

It is a joy to live my faith every single day. I find that prayer is a wonderful and simple way to communicate with Heavenly Father. I also live my faith through my calling - I'm the second counselor on the Elders Quorum presidency in the ward where I live - and having the ability to help fellow members of the ward is a wonderful gift. But most of all I live my faith by being a good example to those around me, by showing them love and forgiveness and understanding, and by being as Christlike as I can be.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name, and the priesthood as been an immensely wonderful blessing in my life. One example of this was when my wife had a severe ear infection that caused her so much pain that sleep was impossible, and she was in agony from the pain despite having taken painkillers. I, together with a fellow priesthood holder, gave her a blessing that she would find the pain bearable, and moments after the blessing had concluded she fell asleep. The priesthood is something that is dear to me and I cannot bear to imagine life without it. It's a wonderful gift. Show more Show less
