Hi I'm Mandy

I am a wife, mother of 2, blogger, and a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the wonderful state of Texas. After graduating high school, my family and I moved to Utah where I attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a BA in Special Education with a minor in Music. I have an amazing husband I met at BYU and we've been married for 4 years. Our family has grown over the years and we are the proud parents of our beautiful and sassy little girl and sweet and handsome baby boy. Oklahoma is a new place we now call home as my husband is just beginning his first year of medical school. We embrace change and are excited to see where this journey takes us. I love to spend time with my family, sing and play the piano in my spare time, sew -definitely a novice-, read self help books/blogs, attempt DIY crafts, try new recipes, eat icecream and shakes, sign ASL, and blog!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because everything about this gospel edifies me and motivates me to become better in each aspect of my life:: as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt. I am a Mormon because every time I attend a Church meeting or activity I feel uplifted. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. When I was in 7th grade, I prayed for the first time to see if it was true. I remember kneeling on the side of my bed and waiting for a moment . Suddenly, I felt as though I was receiving a big hug. I was filled with complete warmth from head to toe and knew that the Holy Ghost was testifying to me of its truthfulness. Ever since that moment, I cannot deny that the Book of Mormon is true. I have prayed many times since then and each time I feel the Holy Ghost warm my heart and re-confirm what I already knew. I am a Mormon because the more I live the standards the gospel teaches the more Christ-like I become little by little. In short, I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do the little things. I do my best to notice others' needs and help them in whatever way I can. I love making people happy and I feel like that is what the gospel is about. Also I recently received a new calling in my church with the girls ages 14-18. How lucky am I?! I prepare lessons for them each Sunday to teach them how to become better and of course I learn how to become better in the process.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I believe we come to know our Heavenly Father by living His commandments. When I try living a commandment more fully, I inevitably feel His love for me and He feels close to me. I also come to know my Heavenly Father by praying to Him and reading the scriptures. The more I pray and read the scriptures, the more answers come to me and the more I receive inspiration in my daily life. The more time I take to learn of Him and live like Him, the more I come to know Him. He is real. He is there. And, I know He wants us to come to know Him and He lets us come to know Him as we choose to follow Him. Show more Show less
