Hi I'm Denise

I am an artist and a teacher. I converted to the church about a decade ago.

About Me

I am an artist. I like to paint and do it everyday. I am a mother of three. I currently have my own studio but my main job is teaching art. When I not painting or teaching, I am usually knitting.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a friend of another faith ask me one time, " What do you think happens or where do you think we go after we die." I was an odd question out of the blue, but it made me think of "What do I really believe anyway?" I saw wonderful families around. Two women from the church visited my for over 2 years prior, although they never really brought up religion. My good friend across the street was a Mormon, so I called her and said," What do I need to do to come to church and be baptized?" She was so excited. My young daughter was 8 years old. One of my friends in the neighborhood had been taking her to the primary time in church. My daughter was excited I wanted to know more. We were both taught by sweet missionaries from Hawaii. Everytime I thought, I will listen and if I don't agree, then I can stop lessons. Each lesson they taught about Christ, I thought, Yes! I believe that too. We were both baptized soon after. My husband decided to hear lessons about 5 years later. He was able to be baptized and baptize my sons. Our family was sealed together a couple of years later. I truly believe that there is a God. He loves all of us. He sent his son to earth as a part of his plan for us. Jesus Christ died for our sins, but he is living and loving each of us. I have felt the calm of his presence, inspiration whispered in my ear to help guide my family and I know if I keep trying to do the things he taught, I can return to be with him and a loving Heavenly Father. I believe in the power that comes from such faith. I believe in the strength of young men and women missionaries who teach plain and simple truths and are unmoveable rocks. There is nothing that can be done, that the gospel can not heal. All it takes is being willing to listen. This I believe. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I teach the women in our church. I love feeling the strength and love the women show for each other as well as their families. Their love of Christ is inspiring to me. I also have two missionaries in the field, so I write a lot of letters!

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

It gives those who are dead the opportunity to hear the gospel. They still have the choice yes or no to accept the proxy baptism. A loving God gives them the opportunity to hear simple truths and add to the truths they already have. Show more Show less
