Hi I'm David

I trek, eat, sleep, write, live, love, laugh, & give. I'm a Christian, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Each day I change. I love trying new foods, seeing new places, and meeting new people. Few things touch me so deep as hymns & praises to God, and I love learning new things in Spanish. I served a two year mission for the church in Provo Utah, and Bahia Blanca Argentina. IT WAS AMAZING. Love never hit me so hard as in that time. Although I've grown up being taught about God, my beliefs are always being strengthened, and tested. Over the years I've had trouble with anxiety & perfectionism towards life, which has left quite a few scars, but God has always reminded me to "Cast not away therefore your confidence" (Heb 10:35). I love Him, and hope to know him better each day.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it fills me. Through prayer, and study of Christs' teachings in the Scriptures, I've overcome so much & found peace in even the worst of moments. I find that Sundays have become my favorite day of the week, because that 'full' feeling is almost to overflowing as I'm worshiping with others in church. In church we recommit ourselves to Christ each week by taking the Sacrament (bread & water blessed in remembrance of Christs' suffering on the cross) and reflecting on what we can improve from the previous week. At times it seems overwhelming to me, and I doubt I can ever reach far enough, but in these moments I remember kind words like this from Jesus: "They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Mark 2:17) His great mission was this.... it was for broken, infected people like me. What a humbling truth!!

How I live my faith

Haha, that's a good point! Faith is more than an idea in the head! It's action. I've found that serving in church helps me keep a good perspective on life. Although I sometimes take more off than I can chew.. :) Right now I teach a Sunday school class for the 12-13 yr old kids, play prelude music for church services (on piano), and I serve as a counselor to our congregation's quorum of elders (priesthood holders usually between the ages of 19-40). I'm in my early 20's, and there are times I don't feel nearly prepared enough to counsel others, or prepare classes, but these service opportunities have come from God, through inspired leaders. Anything God trusts me with, I should trust that He will be there hand in hand.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

David
Absolutely not. We are all free to choose the way we will, and vote the way we will. The church DOES endorse the eternal laws & standards of God though, and we believe in upholding them (whether it's the popular way or not). These standards & commandments can be found throughout the scriptures, and testified of by any who live them. Show more Show less
