Hi I'm Ricky

I am from West Jordan, Utah. I enjoy my family and friends. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I love exercise and music. The outdoors are fascinating and beautiful to me. My favorite way to spend my time is with my family and friends. I enjoy playing the cello and reading. Because of my love for the outdoors I hike, bike, run, swim, take pictures, cloud watch, star gaze, camp and any other outdoor activity.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I wasn't born converted. When I was a teenager, I had many friends who didn't believe in the gospel in which I was born and still participated in. Due to their constant questioning of my beliefs brought me to my knees. I prayed more than I ever have in my life to do what God wanted me to do. I read the scriptures and prayed to know if God had put those words here on the earth for me. I read in the Bible and found amazing advice: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"(Isaiah 40:31). I found out the the Lord has the answers that men don't. I continued. Day after day I went to a calm, quiet place to pray and read. After a few weeks I noticed something in me that wasn't there before, certainty. I knew that what I learned through the Holy Spirit using the scriptures was true. Jesus Christ is my Savior. I am a son of my Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit teaches all truth. It is my gift from God, and no power will be able to take it away from me for it is the work of God. This certainty didn't come all at once but it did come and not through human knowledge but divine revelation. The greatest truth in the gospel is that God loves ALL of His children. He is merciful. Even if we miss the first 1,000,000 chances He gives us, He still offers us one more. He is just with both those who are yet alive in their mortal bodies and those who have died physically but live as spirits. I love the fact that Christ "...preached unto the spirits in prison; which sometime were disobedient.(1 Peter 3:19-20)" This is where Christ went between His death and His resurrection. It is wonderful to me that He loves us enough to give us even more chances than simply mortality. Many have not received this gospel, both living physically or spiritually, we all need it. He has prepared all things. He lives. He loves me.

How I live my faith

I served as a missionary in Brazil for two years. I love the people there. I enjoy going out with the missionaries to teach others and to deepen my appreciation for my Savior by sharing His love with everyone. I like to sing in the choirs of the church; the hymns are so beautiful. I pray for the strength to be better everyday and to lift those around me. I love learning truth from the Holy Spirit. I love doing spontaneous service to anyone I see. I serve my family and friends to let them know that I love them.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Jesus is the God of the whole earth not merely one tiny part of it! He visited many people personally in addition to those in Jerusalem and that part of the world. This truth shown in the Book of Mormon shows His love and His mercy. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

I love that we know that physical death is not the end. How could it be? God is without end. Why would He create us for no reason? Our spirit will continue to live, learn, love and serve. We still progress and Jesus Christ made it possible for ALL to learn the gospel by preaching it first when He visited the spirits (1 Peter 3:18-20). Christ is merciful unto ALL. He loves ALL. He wants ALL to return to Him. He is infinite and without limits. He has prepared an uncountable number of chances for us to choose the right. If we miss them all, He will give us one more and then another for as long as He can. This is one of the greatest truths of the gospel. His arm is stretched out to all, those alive physically and those who live only spiritually. Show more Show less
