Hi I'm Lance Merrell

I love track, challenges, mountains, Harry Potter, Oregonians and the finer things of life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have loved track and field since I was in middle school. I continued through high school and into college at UVU. I also ran cross country. I love all sports though. I have four fantastic brothers along with the most amazing parents. I have a great love for school and learning, especially history and political science which I'll be majoring in. I look forward to going to law school. Right now I put all those loves, hopes, dreams and desires on hold to serve a mission in the Oregon Portland Mission. It's so awesome and I love every minute of it. When you take me down to my core, I'm not track. I'm not history. I'm not any of that other stuff. I am a child of God. I am and ever will be a representative of him.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I came to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God's true church, once again established again on the earth. The spirit has testified of this to me many times, but the biggest one to me was when I specifically wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true. My knowing this book is true was so important to me. It says within it's pages that if we come to know the Book of Mormon is true that we will know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth. Basically everything about being a Mormon hangs on the Book of Mormon. I had to know for myself if this book was true. I had read it before, but I needed another confirmation. I needed to Know, especially if I was to go serve a mission and tell other people about it. So I began again, looking especially for Jesus Christ within it's pages. I can promise that he is truly there and it is a book about how he can change your life. I prayed and asked if it was all true. The confirmation I received was clear and as undeniable as it was strong. I can say that I know that The Book of Mormon is true, that Jesus is the Christ, and the The Church of Jesus Christ is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth, and that we are led today by a living prophet. It guides who I am and what I do, and it will forever because I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live a Christ-like life. I try to serve everywhere and everyone, as he did. I try to help out people in need by giving service wherever it is needed and just trying to help them with whatever they need. Right now I'm serving a mission which is the epitome of service. I help people find joy and peace that only comes from the gospel and His love. There is no better way to live my faith than by helping others build theirs. I'm on a high path. I am not one to sink into all the filth the world has spread around us. I'm worth more than that. Not because of any of my merits, but because of my divine potential. I know to much and have to much going for me to give it away for cheap thrills and popularity. I am a lifelong disciple of Christ every second of the day.
