Hi I'm Tamara

I'm a plant nerd, an over-the-phone computer geek, a music and warm fuzzy lover, and a celiac. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from out west, where my new Philly friends think only cows come from, even though I've never even touched one in my life (although I wouldn't be averse to it - they're adorable!), and I'm married to the most handsome, intelligent, amazing Podiatry student ever! I enjoy reading, dancing, singing, having friends over, playing video games, and knowing the difference between a Tilia tomentosa and an Acer japonicum (Silver Linden and Japanese Maple) off the top of my head. Sometimes I try to bake delicious foods without wheat...and am still working on succeeding. I keep a weather eye out for squirrels, and someday hope to have a little dog and a crop of chillun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family sealed together by our faith in Jesus Christ, and I grew up with the gospel as an essential part of my life. I have always known that my Heavenly Father loves me. In junior high/middle school I began studying the gospel more intensely, studied the Book of Mormon thoroughly, and came to realize just how much I know in my soul that this is the true, full gospel of Jesus Christ on Earth today. Every year I have deepened my gospel roots, and have fallen further in love with my gospel heritage, my faith, and my Savior. I learned to identify personally with Joseph Smith while studying church history at BYU, and I know without a doubt that he lived his life as a testimony of his faith in the Savior and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I try to find small ways every day to remember Jesus Christ, and listen for the influence of the Holy Ghost in my decisions, because I believe each day I have the opportunity to become more like the virtuous and strong woman God sees in me as His daughter.

How I live my faith

I strive to capture my testimony more fully every day: Each morning I study the scriptures and try to relate them to my life, and I speak to my Father in Heaven in prayer daily. I serve as music chairman for my congregation, so every sunday I'm busily directing music, picking songs, teaching the choir, and playing the piano so that everyone can more fully feel the love of the Savior through song. I also help teach the youth or the primary when some of the teachers can't make it on Sunday, and attended all five intensely spiritural - and sweaty - days of girls' camp with the teen girls this year! I love to talk about the gospel, and attend the temple whenever possible. I am SO excited that we are building a temple in Philadelphia!
