Hi I'm Jenny Secretan

I grew up in Utah. I love archery, and Superman. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm 27 years old, I'm singles in a ward and I've loved the experiences I've had at this time of my life. Right now, I am a caregiver to both my parents who suffer from auto-immune diseases. There are good days and bad days, but I have learned over the past few years the power of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for me and for those I love. His suffering was for all the pain that they are going through now, and I know that despite the challenges we've been through, He has never left us alone.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but that isn't why I'm a Mormon. When I moved away from home at 18, I really had to make a decision, "am I going to continue going to church? Do I believe this?" I quickly found that it was a part of who I am. My testimony was strengthened as I made the choice to follow the Saviors teachings. Just before my second year of school, President Hinckley, the Prophet at the time gave a challenge for everyone to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year, and he promised many blessings if we chose to do it. I took his Challenge, and so did most of my college roommates. One promise he gave was that the spirit would fill your home, and while for various reasons we were going through an unsettling time, seeing my roommates reading the Book of Mormon and reading it myself filled me with peace I hadn't known was possible. I made the decision to go on a mission, despite overwhelming shyness and fear of leaving home, I was able to fulfill my mission and gain an even strong testimony that God is my Heavenly Father and he loves me, he wants' what is best for me and everyone I meet. He wants us to follow Him and his Son because it is the happiness that so many are searching for. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior, that his Gospel, the same Gospel and church that was established when he was here has been established once again. There is a living prophet on the earth and he helps us to know the things that we should be doing right now to get closer to our Savior. It is a blessing in my life everyday.

How I live my faith

I belong to a singles ward in my area, and it is the most amazing ward ever. I was recently released from my calling the working with the women in the ward with me, which was an awesome 20 months, and now I get to help organize a meal once a month after church. It's fun to have the opportunity to serve the people that I've really come to love. I get roped into making cupcakes for all the ward weddings; but that's okay. The singles ward is an awesome opportunity to be with people who are in the same stage of life as me, sometimes we are together about every night of the week. On thing I love about it is our Book of Mormon reading, we have a challenge as ward, to read a chapter in the Book of Mormon Daily, then on Sunday and Monday evenings, we read our chapter together and talk about the things that stuck out to us as read. It has brought us closer together as friends, almost like a family, and strengthened my testimony of the Book of Mormon and of Jesus Christ.
