Hi I'm Jesse Dowdle
I'm a student at the University of Utah. I live for music. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
Currently, I'm a missionary serving in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. I love anything having to do with music; playing it, making it, listening to it, anything. Upon returning home, I plan on building my career around it. I graduated from high school in The Woodlands, Texas, and although I wasn't born or necessarily raised there, I proudly call myself a Texan. I love spending time in the outdoors; some of my greatest memories were made while hiking or camping. My family is everything to me, and I'm incredibly lucky to have the friends I do. Life is too short to not have fun and surround yourself with people you love, and that's what I try my best to do.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in a home without any sort of religious background or grounding. There was plenty of love and unity as a family, but we never went to any church or had any sort of religious worship of any kind. My dad had been a member of this church years and years ago, serving a mission in Lima, Peru, but had since stopped attending and was, for all intensive purposes, not a member anymore. The missionaries always came to our house, wherever it was that we lived, and my family's answer was always the same: We are not interested. It wasn't until one winter we spent visiting family in Salt Lake City, Utah, that I became aware of this church. After visiting some places in downtown Salt Lake with my grandma, I became curious as to who Joseph Smith was and why so many people talked about him and the Mormons. She gave me a Book of Mormon, which I then read on the road trip back to Texas. My constant questions, combined with the persitence of some determined missionaries, finally convinced my parents to let my sister and I learn more. Eventually my sister and I were baptized, and we are a fully active participating family today, incredibly happy and grateful for the wonderful gift we've been blessed with in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by sharing it with just about everyone I come in contact with! After seeing the wonderful change it brought into my home and family, I live to share it with those who can benefit by knowing the truths I've come to know.
