Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I love to read, to talk, and to eat. I'm a Minnesota missionary, I love it, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read. Sci-fi and fantasy are my favorites, but I won't say no to a good classic either. I also enjoy playing board or video games with my friends. I attended one year at Snow College, in southeast Utah. I plan on finishing my education at Utah State University. I'm not sure what I want to be right now, but I'm considering going into education. I love learning! I'm on a mission in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission, and I love what I do. Being a missionary is the greatest experience I'll ever have. I'm a nerdy, goofy Mormon, and I'm proud of it.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have taught me, but more importantly, I learned for myself that this Church is true. I can feel Christ's love in my life, and nothing is more important than that. As people, we often hope to create world peace, or solve world hunger, or eliminate poverty. These are all worthy goals, but there is no social or political cure on this earth. The only one who will EVER do that is Jesus Christ, and I know that by living His Gospel, we will achieve more happiness than we ever could otherwise.

How I live my faith

I love serving within the Church! I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary. As such, I serve the Lord 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for two full years! I love talking to people about Christ, because I know that He can help us in every single aspect of our lives! Before I became a missionary, I helped in my local congregation (or ward, as we call it) with playing the piano, teaching classes, and leading music. All in all, I try to live my faith by loving others as Christ did. I know I am VERY imperfect, but I'm trying, and that's what God requires!

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Because they are misinformed. What I have heard most is that we are a "cult" because we do not follow the Nicene Creed. The Nicene Creed was a decision made by men about how God would be viewed. We choose not to believe what men have decided, but what God has made known to us. If following God's teachings, not man's teachings, make us a cult, then so be it. I follow God, not man.
