Hi I'm Laura Burbidge

I grew up in West Valley City, Utah. I love to read romance novels and watch basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently got married and sealed to my wonderful husband a year ago. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in University Studies at BYU-Idaho with an emphasis in Sociology, Marriage and Family, and Psychology. Right now I am working full-time at Deseret Book and it is an amazing company to work for! We don't have any kids yet but we have an adorable kitty named Miley who makes us laugh a lot. She is a fluffy himalayan mix kitty. I come from a large family of eight kids and I am number seven.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a family that was already a part of the Gospel, so I didn't have to work for what I have, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a testimony. I don't really have one single conversion story but it has been all of the little things that happened while growing up. Some of the times I can remember when I felt the Spirit so strong was at EFY (Especially for Youth). That is a program that the Church has to help teenagers with the Gospel. The best thing about the Church besides the truthfulness of it is that everyone is encouraged to figure out that it is true on their own. You have to read the Book of Mormon and pray about what you read. You are then promised that the Holy Ghost will confirm to you that it is true. I have done that many times and I know that it is true because of that confirmation. Other times when I feel the Spirit the strongest is going to the temple. I don't have to even be going inside to feel the Spirit. The grounds are just so peaceful and it is a good, wholesome place to be. One aspect of the Gospel that I love the most is the Plan of Salvation. The best thing in the world is knowing that I am going to be with my husband for all eternity!! In regular marriage vows, it never sat right with me to hear "till death do you part". That is something I don't get and I know Heavenly Father loves us more than to not let us be with our honey forever. I will have my children forever and we will continue to progress in the next life side by side.

How I live my faith

My husband and I live in a married student ward and love being around so many people our age and in our same boat. My calling in the ward right now is Visiting Teaching Supervisor and to be a Visiting Teacher. It get's really difficult sometimes because being a student and working takes a lot of time. I would say my biggest calling right now is to be friends with the women in my ward and to make them feel welcome. My husband is the executive secretary(the guy that makes appointments for people in the ward to see the Bishop) and so he knows who all the knew people are (we get a lot). It is good to make everyone feel like a part of our Ward Family :)
