About Me

I am lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom of a young growing family! In my spare time I like to cook, read and stay in touch with family. With the birth of my first son, I quit my job and an now keeping up my nursing license with continuing education hours. Cooking is so much fun - the challenge of how to use up what I have in my cupboards and fridge. Reading has always been a huge part of my life (fantasy, young adult, juvenile...cereal boxes). However, lately I can only read in short chunks of time, so I mainly just read newspaper headlings, online newspapers, cooking blogs, etc. I loved growing up as part of a large extended family, so in combination with my husband's large family we spend a lot of time visiting with family.

Why I am a Mormon

Going from high school to college was a difficult transition - life felt dark. I had to make decisions about how I wanted to live and what I wanted to do with my life. My parents, siblings...nobody else could make these decisions for me. One day, as I contemplated the Church and what would make me happy - the words of John 6 came to mind. Jesus asked the twelve, "Will ye also go away?" And Simon Peter said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." As I live the commandments and try to follow the words of our current apostles - I feel close to God and feel a peace and happiness I've never felt any other way.

How I live my faith

I take it one day at a time, especially with an active young toddler! I feel like I'm living my faith on the days that I forget myself and really focus on helping him "explore" his new world and don't use television as too much of a crutch. I used to be volunteer at our local food bank and other community organizations. But I'm glad I still get to serve other woman in our church - even if just to encourage / be encouraged by them!
