Hi I'm Barb

I am a Mormon. I joined the church in 1997 along with my husband.

About Me

I grew up in small town rural America, the oldest of 3 sisters. Before becoming a member of the church I attended several other churches including Baptist, Assembly of God, Methodist, Presbyterian and Catholic. I also studied for a while with Jehovah Witnesses. My parents did not have a religion and I was very curious about churches as many of my friends attended so I just took myself to church. When Missionaries came to our door and shared the message and story of Joseph Smith, I knew the church was (and is) the true church. I currently am the only member of my family who is a member of the church. My husband and I were baptized the same day in 1997. He was baptized first, confirmed and ordained as an Aronic Priest then baptized me. It was very special. We are members of the Platteville, WI Branch and love the church and the gospel. My husband is the only member in his family as well. I have one daughter and a stepson, 4 bioglical grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 step grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this is the true Church. The Holy Spirit has told me so. I love it's teachings. We have The Word of Wisdom that guides us in our daily habits which indicates no drinking, no smoking and eating properly. We are taught to obey the commandments and to love one another. We care for/help the poor and needy. I love the people in our Church, they are kind, loving and helpful and believe the same things that I believe.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and in the 15 yrs. that we have been members I have missed maybe 5 times due to illness or family reunions. I try to read the scriptures daily and do my visiting teaching as regularly a I can. I pray in the morning, after meals and at bedtime. I try to do service to members and others who may not be members. I feed our missionaries once a week right now as my husband is the Branch Mission Leader. They have correlation meetings weekly after our meal. I try to share the gospel with non-members. I try to keep the Sabbath day holy. I try to have food storage and be prepared both spiritually and temporily. I try to be the best person that I can be but do repent when I am not.

In whom should we have faith?

Our church is a Christian Church, we believe in Heavenly Father (God) and in Jesus Christ. Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary, was crucified on the cross and was raised again on the 3rd day. He is our Savior, He died for us, our sins, that our sins can be forgiven if we will repent. Show more Show less
