Hi I'm Amy

I'm a mother of three, a wife and a work-at-home mom. I grew up in North Carolina and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Amy and I'm a wife, a mother, a work-at-home mom and I'm a Mormon. I enjoy being outside to enjoy the beautiful world around me. I'm always fascinated by my three children and how they learn and grow. Before having my family, I worked full time in public accounting and in the financial services industry. After meeting and marrying my husband, I decided being present for my children was more important than being a successful business woman. I've been lucky to find a part-time job that is flexible, allowing me time with my family as well as the chance to continue learning new things.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I was taught the principles of Christ's gospel in my home. While we moved a lot and my family circumstances changed over the years, those principles were a constant in my life. Specifically, I know that I am a child of God. He loves me. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to be my Savior and Redeemer. His Atonement blesses my life as I learn that Christ suffered for my sins. He knows my weaknesses and He's felt my sorrows. I know He has a plan for my life. When my parents were divorced, I prayed to have Heavenly Father "fix" my family. The answer I received was that part God's plan was to let every person make their own choices. I learned that making my own choices to follow the commandments would bring me the most happiness. Now, as a parent, my goal is to teach my children these same principles -- To love God and our neighbors; To be kind; To know that prayers are heard and answered; and to know they are children of God, too. I want to be with my family forever and know that it is possible through Christ's gospel. I love the peace that comes through the Holy Ghost when I'm keeping the promises I've made to God. I love the inspiration that comes from reading the scriptures, teaching me how to be a better wife and mother, neighbor and friend. Living the gospel brings me joy. I hope I can be an example of the believers as I strive to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

To me, being a disciple of Jesus Christ means following His example. It means being true to our word, being charitable and forgiving, even when we've been wronged, being kind and being of service. As members of the LDS Church, we are each given a family or neighbor to visit. While I'm far from perfect, I strive to build those relationships and find ways to help when needed. We are here on the earth as families, neighbors and friends and our lives are connected. I've always felt that each person I meet has something unique to teach me. Christ was willing to serve and teach in every place He visited. I feel the peace of His love when I try and do the same. Currently, I'm responsible for planning a monthly activity for the women in our congregation. Some months, we eat dinner together. Other months we learn basic skills such as sewing or canning. We also gather together to give service such as making quilts or gathering humanitarian supplies. While it can be a big task to plan a dinner party for 100 people, it's thrilling to work together as a group and give people a chance to visit and strengthen their relationships with their neighbors. Plus, I love seeing how people are willing to share their talents - we've got a great group of women who can cook, and help publicize, decorate, entertain and share what they've learned in life.
