Hi I'm Caitlin Brady

I'm from Los Angeles, I study Music and Film, and I'm Serving a Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am putting my life as a film student at BYU on hold right now, and serving an 18 month mission! I'm excited about it. I love reading, writing, watching movies, and making them. I'm also a huge music lover. I love listening to almost all kinds, and I play flute, tenor sax, fife, tin whistle, some piano, and I sing. Other things I love are the night sky, mugs, and traveling. I've traveled to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean, and Canada and Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it gives me joy and purpose. Also, I love truth and learning, and the gospel has more of that than anything else could give me. I am especially grateful for the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life, which gives me comfort and joy, guides me towards truth, and helps me know what I should do. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helps me to improve myself and become stronger, not only spiritually, but in all aspects of my character, and in all situations. It leads me to hope that one day I truly may become a 'saint.' I'm definitely not there yet, but through exercising the Atonement and genuine effort, I don't have to feel guilty about my shortcomings, just determined to overcome them with God's help. I love the peace the gospel brings, and how through it I can come to know my Heavenly Father and my Savior better, and hope to return to them one day. I love how it prepares me both for my life on earth, and for the eternities to come. I also love how it brings my family together now and forever.

How I live my faith

In my life I've tried to live my faith not only by doing what is right for me, but also by trying to help others be happy, through service and friendship. Following and keeping the truths of the gospel makes me happy. When I became a missionary and dedicated all of my time for 18 months to the Lord, it was to help others find that same happiness. It's not always easy, as a missionary or as a member, to be part of a "peculiar people," but holding to my standards and being a good example helps me be strong and blessed and purposeful.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Caitlin Brady
No! I worship, along with all the members I know, just Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We no more worship Joseph Smith than we would worship Moses, or Noah, or John the Baptist, or any other prophets who have taught the word of God. The prophets themselves have only taught and testified of God and Christ and also the Holy Ghost. When we follow their teachings, we learn the true way to worship God and Jesus, through obedience to their commandments, prayer, and listening to the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Caitlin Brady
Yes, it is! It is one of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon. It is so special to have another record of part of the life of Christ. It emphasizes His divinity and shows his character in beautiful ways. My favorite part is when he blesses all the little children. The love he shows the people is one I can feel he has for me. It is so special being able to imagine him healing and blessing and teaching in America. I truly believe, and know, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that this, and the rest of the Book of Mormon, is a true record. Show more Show less
