Hi I'm Nate Duncan

I work in the pharmaceutical industry. I am a husband, father of four and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and four children are the core of my happiness and what drives my interests. Spending time as a family on vacation, at sporting events, tumbling, piano recitals, working together or just being together makes anything I do more enjoyable. Occasionally an afternoon fishing, going on a date with my wife, attending a sporting venue or spending some alone time reading autobiographies, biographies, religious and historical books makes up some of my basic interests in life.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a natural and comfortable part of me. The Holy Spirit has burned within me as I have read the story of 14 year old Joseph Smith who asked God which church he should join. I too have read the scriptures and prayed to know which church I should belong to. The Holy Ghost has on many different occasions confirmed to me both in thoughts and feelings that Christ's Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that God chose Joseph Smith to be a prophet through whom he could restore the fulness of His gospel and that Christ continues as he alway has to reveal direction for us through prophets. As I write this, I feel the tears and that overwhelming feeling again that Jesus Christ lives and knows me, and that what I have shared is true. It is these wonderful feelings and the teachings from prophets both present and past that have lead me to become a Mormon. The Holy Spirit has confirmed to me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ both appeared to the boy Joseph Smith and that just as they knew him, they know me. As I have studied the pages of the Book of Mormon and prayed, those same feelings of warmth have taught me that it is scripture sent from God through prophets living anciently here in America. When I was baptized by Priesthood authority, the Spirit burned within me that I had made the right choice. As I served as a missionary, I witnessed others experience these same feelings from the Spirit. The day I entered the Temple to marry my wife, the Spirit was there confirming to me that I can be with her forever. Now we have children that we love and never want to loose and I know that through Jesus Christ and His Atonement our children and grandchildren can be with us forever. I believe that through Jesus Christ everyone who has lived, now lives or will live can return to our heavenly home. I am a Mormon because the Holy Spirit has taught that I should be.

How I live my faith

Learning and teaching those doctrines and principles that Christ teaches with my family is a great joy in my life and a responsibility that weighs heavily on my mind. Living my faith is a process of becoming who I imagine my Heavenly Father would like me to be. Treating my wife how He would have me treat and think of her. Loving and teaching my children as He loves and teaches me. Serving others and interacting with them as He would like me to are what my faith motivates me to do. I am blessed to be a husband, a father and to serve in my church and politically in my community. Sometimes I feel inadequate in my abilities to fulfill these responsibilities as I should. It is a great help for me when I see others living their faith and it encourages me to live better.
