Hi I'm Izak

I am an author. I am an singer. I am a recent high school graduate. I am a missionary in Cambodia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate serving a mission in Cambodia. I have written and self-published two books and plan to continue writing once I return home. I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and basically being outdoors. I also plan to attend college upon my return.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and for many years I went to church for one of two reasons, because my parents made me or I wanted to see my friends. I continued to do this until I became a deacon. As I passed the sacrament for the first time, I realized how important what I was doing is. I began going to church to learn and worship for a while. I didn't read my scriptures very often and usually was repetitive in my prayers still. Eventually I prayed for help and something to base my testimony on. After a few days I talked with my brother and I realized he had answered questions I had never asked anyone, except God in my prayers. He helped me realize I already had the beginnings of a testimony. I knew Joseph Smith was a true prophet and because I knew that I knew the Book of Mormon was true and was written by prophets called by God. I slowly began helping my testimony grow and I began reading my scriptures almost every night. I can see the help and how much my life has improved since I started reading and paying attention to the lessons in church instead of what my friends were doing. I know that Jesus Christ died for me and everyone before he was resurrected. He suffered for us all and now we will be able to go to heaven and live with Him and God. Those experiences allowed me to keep true to my faith while going through many struggles. My family members have had many health problems and two of my siblings were sent off their missions last year, one due to seizures and the other for other health reasons. Many things have calmed down since then and my brother no longer has seizures, but I recently broke my ankle rock climbing. I am missing out on many adventures with my family and friends, but I know there is a reason for it. To sum all that up, I will put it like this, I am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because God loves me, and everyone, and I cannot deny that.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission, which means I have left my home and spending my time studying and teaching others about the gospel in my assigned mission area, Cambodia. I have no former training in the Cambodian language, but will be learning it both in the Missionary training center and while in Cambodia. I strive to always improve myself in some way and hope to be a positive influence to those around me.
