Hi I'm Brittany

I am earning my BA in biblical studies. I am visually impaired, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am visually impaired and I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I like to read, write, play goalball, and hang out with my friends. Some of my favorite things to do with my friends are: talk about religion, play video and computer games, and watch movies. I am a junior in college and I love the atmosphere of college life. I like the support of my professors and classmates. I am earning my BA in Biblilcal Studies and I am beginning to learn Biblical Hebrew and I am considering trying to learn New Testament Greek when I get back from my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many members of the church who have one defining moment wherein the Spirit of the Lord revealed to them that the Church is true. I didn't have an experience like that. Even from the time I was eight years old, having just been baptized into the church and I remember reading the Book of Mormon and knowing that it was true. I never one defining moment in which I knew without a doubt that the church is true; I have always known that. In spite of this, I still need to exercise my faith and keep living how I know that I should. I have chosen to be a member of the chruch by my own free will and choice. I love the church and the Book of Mormon because it helps me come closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. This is why I am a member of the church, becuase I love Him. I know that he wants all of God's children to return to our Father in Heaven and live with both of Them in heaven. This is why I have given eighteen months of my life to His service. I want to share the gospel--this good news with my brother and sisters who don't know this wonderful message. In this time of chaos and confusion, I want them to know that God speaks again and that the gospel that existed on the earth during Christ's life has been restored. I know this to be true. I want them to know that they can be happy and how they can return to God. I want to share the answers to the great questions of life, "Where did I come from?" "Why am I here?" and "Where am I going?" I want them to know the answers can be foundi n the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want them to know that we can be sealed together as families and that we will see our departed loved ones again and that we can live with our families forever. God gave us the Book of Mormon because he saw our day and prepared the things He thought would be of most use to us within its pages. Christ taught, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Test this out. I want everyone within my influence to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it is true.

How I live my faith

I have grown up in the church and my family has been in the church for many generations. I live my faith by going to church every week where I can partake of the sacrament and be cleansed from my sins. When I was in a singles ward (a congregation of members who are single between the ages of 18-30) I was called to be a visiting teacher. I visited my assigned sisters each month and got to know them better and I was able to serve them and come to love them. My companion and I shared our message with them and then we closed with prayer. This message was drawn from the scriptures, and the words of living prophets and Apostles. My love for my faith has also affected me in other ways. I also pray to God several times a day and express my thanks for all that He has given me. I know that He lives and that I will get answers if I just pray to Him. I live my faith also by reading my scriptures every day. I study them for at least an hour a day as a missionary of Jesus Christ. My companion and I usually study the scriptures more together before we go and teach our lessons. The scriptures have great power and I love studying them and the insights I gain each time I study. I also live my faith by trying my best to be a example of how a member of the Church of Jesus Christ should act and I hope that others can see it in the way I live my life. I try my best to serve others and treat them how Christ would treat them. I am trying especially to do this being a servant of the Lord at this time in my life. I want to help others to come unto Christ by helping them to receive the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
