Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a sophomore at BYU-Idaho and studying to be a teacher. I love the simple things in life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 years old. I love to read and I really enjoy studying and learning new things. I currently attend Brigham Young University Idaho where I am studying to be a teacher so I can share that love of learning with my students. My hobbies include travel and watching movies, so I guess I have a strange mixture of an adventurous and couch potato spirit. And that's pretty much me!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know it to be God's Church on the earth today. I was recently reading about how the church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and I felt the Holy Ghost touch my heart. I had grown up learning about it, but I was surprised at how much I wanted to keep reading and learn more like I was learning these things for the first time. The more I read, the more peace I felt. God's church is on Earth today and He is at it's head guiding and directing it. Knowing this makes me feel safe and protected. God loves His children enough to call prophets to guide them and help them. He did in ancient times with prophets like Abraham and Moses, and he does today with prophets like Joseph Smith and our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson. But you don't have to take my word for it. I don't know these things because someone said them to me and I believed them. The Holy Ghost can teach us the indisputable truth. I have prayed and asked God if Joseph Smith restored His church, if the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and if Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today, and the Holy Ghost helped me understand that it really is the truth. The plain, simple, beautiful truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church every Sunday. There I learn more about Jesus Christ and how to become more like Him. I've learned that no matter how bad my week was, or how busy I am, or any other excuse I can find to stay home, I will always leave church feeling happy and prepared to face anther week. I also live my faith by praying to my Heavenly Father. Prayer is such a blessing in my life. As a young adult just setting out on my own after graduating high school, I am making a lot of major decisions. There are a lot of options and I'm often afraid of choosing the wrong path or making a poor decision. But as I pray and involve the Lord in my decision making process, I am comforted that the choices I am making are good ones that will bring me happiness and help me become who the Lord wants me to be. I know that the Lord has a plan for each one of His children and that He will guide our lives if we let him. In October I made the decision to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I will be serving in the Panama, Panama City Mission. I am so excited to share with the people of Panama something so special to me! For a year and a half I will devote all day, everyday to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I know that this is what the Lord wants me to do right now. I live my faith by sharing the joy it brings me with others.
