Hi I'm Bethany

I am the happy and busy mother of 5 children with a hubby that loves me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors - like the gospel, I feel like both are freeing to my soul! With my family growing up we did lots of outdoor activities - playing, exploring, learning, gaining strength and confidence, hearing the humble testimony of my father, enjoying the beautiful creations of my Savior. Now I so love doing those same activities with my own hubby and children. As my father died several years ago, I am so grateful for the experiences and memories he shared with me - because now as I am in the mountains or hiking on a path, I can't help but remember all his teachings and sayings and then share them with my own family. Just as I am reminded of my earthly father, on a much grander scale I can be reminded of my Savior above - as "all things are created and made to bear record of [Christ]" (Moses 6:63). I love the process of climbing and being on top of a mountain. I can view life more from Heavenly Father's beautiful and eternal perspective. How fun to share these feelings with my own children as they grow.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is true! It really is the Lord's gospel restored in fullness upon the earth! It is the real stuff! The Lord has given us all we need to have and do to become like Him and receive all that He has. What a blessing! The Lord restored His gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. How grateful I am that this is the real stuff that I truly can rely on. I don't have to worry that it might not be the real thing or just someone's opinion that might change tomorrow. I know God lives and that He is so involved in our day to day lives. Through the experiences the Lord has allowed me to have in my life, I better understand His atonement. I am so grateful for this understanding no matter how hard certain challenges have been. My little baby son passed away just weeks after birth, my father died suddenly, I have faced emotional struggles, and more -- but through all of it I better know my Savior and understand His beautiful plan. So I wouldn't trade any of those hardships for anything. I have felt the scriptures be medicine to my soul. I have had direct answers to prayers. I have felt strength from making covenants with God. I know this is the Lord's true church upon the earth. I know that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13).

How I live my faith

In my home, we strive each day to say prayers and read scriptures as a family. At church, I teach and help people who are preparing to enter the temple. What a wonderful process to see their lives transform into something so much more magnificent as they prepare for and then receive ordinances and make covenants with God. Every covenant we make and keep with God allows Him to pour out even greater blessings into our lives. I definitely have felt this in my own life and see it in the lives of others around me. "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise" (Doctrine and Covenants 82:10). We can obey Him, then trust, wait, and expect blessings in some way from God. At church, I also visit/friendship certain sisters throughout the month. What a great opportunity to be able to develop more Christ-like attributes as I help, encourage, or friendship different people. I have found that as I help them it helps me. Sometimes I may not see this right away - but at other times I have seen the blessings come into my life immediately. I feel that every calling I have had in church has shaped me, prepared me, or helped me to develop certain characteristics that Heavenly Father knew I needed to face certain situations ahead. I am so grateful to Him for His all-knowing ways.
