Hi I'm Virginia

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am the mom of three ages 11, 7, and 6. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now my main focus is on my three children. They each have such unique needs and it is my challenge to figure out how to best meet those needs. My number one priority is to make my home a safe place for my family. I couldn't do this with our the help and support of my husband. We are always talking about how we can be better parents. We want our children to grow up to be happy individuals who are good citizens and are strong in their faith. I enjoy reading to learn and for pleasure. I also enjoy yoga, sewing, and photography. I do not love cooking which is unfortunate because it has to be done every day! My youngest child will start school all day this year and I am looking forward with a little nervousness to this change in my life. I intend to use my time to become more organized, volunteer at my kid's school (but not too much!), and develop my own skills either through further education or employment. I know I will need the guidance of the Lord as I make decisions about the direction my life should take so that I do what is best for my family and me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents who joined the church before I was born. My mom comes from a long line of members of the LDS church. My dad was raised Catholic and was introduced to the church by school friends, and joined soon after high school. I always knew how my parents felt about living the gospel of Jesus Christ by watching their actions. When I was about 15 years old I realized that I wanted to do more than just follow their example. I wanted to know for myself that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true. I was encouraged by my teachers and leaders to study the scriptures and ask God in prayer if the things I had been learning my whole life are true. God answered my prayer with a sweet, peaceful reassurance that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It was a feeling that I have had over and over again since that time. I am so grateful that God cares enough about me to answer my prayers. I feel strongly that the teachings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can bless others too. After two year of College, I took a break from my education to serve as a missionary. It was a great time in my life. It solidified my feeling that God truly loves every one of us.

How I live my faith

I really do love serving others through my responsibilities at church. I am lucky enough to work with the children in my congregation. Don't tell anyone I said this, but I have the best assignment you can get! I organize and put on activities twice a month for the young girls ages 8-11. I love working with them because they get excited about everything. There are never any groans or rolling of the eyes. They truly love life and it is contagious. I also love my associations with the other women of my congregation. I feel such love and support from them. It is a great blessing to be able to associate with women from all walks and stations of life. We watch out for each other so that no one ever struggles alone.
