Hi I'm Madeline

I grew up in California. I love to surf, trail run, and be outdoors. I am a full time missionary, a nurse, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a Mission in Mexico! Learning, growing from, and understanding others has been such a treat since being on a mission. I have a deep love for people in general, and the opportunity I have to walk in the footsteps of Christ and be a missionary has been incredibly humbling. I am also a Registered Nurse and I recently completed my Bachelor's degree in nursing. The most important things in my life is my Father in Heaven and my family. I strive to live my life everyday so that I can be with them for eternity. Some of my hobbies include cartwheeling (yes, cartwheeling), running, surfing, camping, reading, and eating delicious Mexican food!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that there is no other Church that is as true as this Church. I don't recall a specific day when I became truly converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but through many experiences, I have come to truly know. When my grandmother passed away, an overwhelming sense of sadness came over me. At that tender time, I knew with reassurance from the Holy Ghost, that I would see her again. I know that families are forever and that we will be with our families in Heaven. The Lord gives me the comfort that I need in difficult times. I don't think that that comfort could come from any other source. I have learned that if we truly want to know if something is true, we need to take it to the Lord. Being a Mormon is much more than just what we believe. It is how we live our daily lives. I want people to walk past me and know that I have the light of Christ with in me. I have a happiness that can only be obtained by following the commandments and being obedient to what my Father in Heaven asks of me. Making big changes in life is difficult. I have been in situations where my mindset is not focused on Christ, and I come out of those situations feeling negative about myself. I truly believe that making the effort to align your life with Christ is worth it, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I have a daily routine of prayer and scripture study. I have learned through prayer how to talk to my Father in Heaven. I know I can ask Him anything, but I also know that if I want something, I have to do my part as well. My scripture study did not start out perfect. I had a hard time understanding everything that is in the scriptures, and I still to this day do! But I have learned so much through faith and patience. I take it one verse at a time and try to really pick out a principal that God is trying to teach me. Another way i try to live my faith is through serving others. Its not always something big. Life gets busy, but I try to make time for service whether its writing a hand written note, or volunteering at a blood drive, I love to see people smile. Now that I am a missionary, I love being able to serve people every day! I live my faith by testifying that the Church is true, God is our loving Heavenly Father, and we can return to Him by repenting, being baptized, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end!

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

You may wonder how we can really come to know our Father in Heaven when we cannot physically see Him or talk to Him face to face. We are blessed to have the scriptures, apostles, prophets, and prayer to help us come to know Him. I know that I have personally built my relationship with Heavenly Father by reading the scriptures and having a prayer in my heart while reading that I will be able to know and understand Him better. Personal prayer also allows me to strengthen my relationship with Him. Prophets and apostles can also teach us so much about our Heavenly Father. If we desire to know Him, He will open that door for us, and I have a testimony of that. Show more Show less
