Hi I'm Dylan Barney

I am a Coloradonite. I love sports. I am serving a mission in Little Rock, Arkansas for 2 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I am the youngest of 4 children. I have 2 older brothers and an older sister. I am extremely competitive and I hate losing in anything. I love having fun and and I like to laugh and make others laugh. I pretty much just enjoy life. I have been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my entire life and my faith is very important to me. I love the outdoors. I love to hike, mountain bike, swim, raft, rock climb, paintball and camp. I love almost every sport especially football. I love watching college sports especially football and basketball. I also love to weightlift and workout. I am not a professional by any means but I love to see myself get stronger. I graduated from Fruita Monument High School in 2011 and I attended BYU for a year before deciding to serve a mission. I am currently majoring in chemical engineering. I love gaining new knowledge about things and I love knowing facts about anything. My friends and I would always do sporcle quizzes and watch jeopardy everyday. I really enjoy singing and I have sang on a few occasions. I love spending time with my family. We are very close and I love my family very much. I would do anything for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into a Mormon family. That is not the reason that I am still Mormon. I continue to be a Mormon because of the happiness that it brings my life. I have a testimony of this gospel and this church. This church is the Kingdom of God on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and through him the Lord restored his authority and the fulness of the gospel on to the earth. I know through the power of God that Joseph Smith translated the Gold Plates into the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that by reading it and following is teachings, we can come closer to Christ. I know that every prophet since Joseph Smith until Thomas S. Monson, our current prophet, have been called of God. I know that they recieve revelation from God to help and guide us. I know that my Heavenly Father and My Savior, Jesus Christ, know me and love me as an individual. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins, and for everyones sins, that we might be able to return to the presence of our God. I know that my Savior lives and I know that by following him with all my heart, might, mind, and strength that I will be able to stand blameless at the last day and be able to live with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith consistent to the teachings of Jesus Christ. I work hard to help support my ward. As a youth I always went to the youth activities and I tried to be an example to others around me. I held various leadership positions in my youth group and in scouting. I always volunteered in my community and I have performed a lot of service for others in my ward and in my community. I tried hard to help the leaders of the church and to support them in their callings. I also loved going out and teaching with the local missionaries. Outside of church events I tried to uphold my values and standards and I tried to be a good example of what Latter Day Saint was. Though at times it was hard I have been incredibley blessed for living the morals, values, and standards of the church. At BYU, in my student ward, I was called to lead and teach the men and to serve the women. I gained a lot of experience from this calling and it helped me to grow as a person. I have now decided to give up 2 years of my life to serving the Lord. I am currently serving in the Little Rock, Arkansas mission until August of 2014. The Lord is the most important thing in my life and I would give up anthing for him. I am serving a mission because i want others to experience the same joy and happiness that I have experienced through following the gospel of Jesus Christ.
