Hi I'm Raquel.

I'm Portuguese. I grew up in Germany. I'm a first grade teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Olá! Hallo! I am a daughter and a wife and I'm a first grade teacher. I love to help children pursue their dreams and learn from them. My dream is to emphasize the importance of education in a child's life wherever they may be. Everything is possible, as long as you put your trust in the Lord. I love to read and travel, and be with my family and friends. I love to work on family history and serve others by putting a smile on their faces.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. My parents were converts in their late teens, and their conversion story has helped me to appreciate having the gospel my whole life. I am thankful that God touched my parents' hearts to join the church so that I may grow up learning the principles of the gospel. When I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover I gained a strong testimony that it is a true book. Prophets of old sacrificed their lives to preserve this book in order for us to have it today. I learn so much from it no matter how many times I've read it. Having the gospel in my life has been the greatest blessing. As a child of God I know that it is important to keep the commandments so that one day my family and I may be in God's presence again. The prophet, Joseph Smith is a great example to me. He was persecuted by many but it didn't stop him from enduring to the end and continue with the Lord's work. It is through lives trials that we grow and humble ourselves as we learn more from God. It is important to always, always choose the right. It is not necessarily the easiest road to take but in the end it's worth it. God is always by our side. No matter where our life leads us we need to find joy in the journey. I've learned that there is a reason for everything that happens and God is behind it all. I believe there is no coincidence in life. Remember to trust in the Lord and everything else will fall into place.

How I live my faith

I try to live by example and be a better person each day by being a good wife and friend. I love teaching, especially the little ones. I've been a primary teacher, a family history consultant and a Sunday school teacher. I learn a lot by preparing my lessons and sharing my insights as well as learning from others. I read my scriptures and listen to music that is uplifting. I also like to listen to talks from the leaders of the church. They encourage me to push harder and rely on the Lord.
