Hi I'm Rick

I speak Armenian and I'm learning Arabic. I'm a student at the University of Washington. I'm happy to be a Mormon.

About Me

My life story is pretty straightforward. I was born into the Church and come from old pioneer families. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I'm the oldest of three kids and love my younger siblings. I've had jobs as a chef, telemarketer, caterer, and website developer. I served as an Armenian-speaking missionary in Los Angeles, California. I attend the University of Washington where I study economics and Middle Eastern studies. I love to be active and outside, whether that be running, biking, rowing, hiking, skiing, ultimate frisbee, or backpacking. Indoors I enjoy watching movies, reading about current events, and playing games with friends and family. I've played the trumpet for eight years and euphonium for three. And I still love my Legos, even if they just gather dust under my bed.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this is the only church in the world with the fulness of God's truth. Whenever I have a question about life, God, or whatever, the Restored Gospel has always given me an answer that makes perfect sense. I was raised knowing that science and religion coexist perfectly, and I truely believe that. I love this Church and this Gospel. I love the Book of Mormon -- the miracle of its coming forth, the messages it contains, and the power in its words. I love the hope that the Gospel brings to my life. Come what may, I look forward to all the trials and triumphs life has in store, and know that with God's help, things will always work out for the best.

How I live my faith

I build my faith daily through prayer and scripture study, and weekly through church attendance. I apply my faith through service to others. As far as I know that's the best pattern for living a happy and full life. I also help teach with the full-time missionaries, and sometimes teach Sunday School. I just try and live the best I can, and hope it has a positive impact on others around me.
