Hi I'm Cathy Turnbow

I have lived the majority of my life in Utah. I love teaching and currently teach at a technical college. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in a large family. When I was ten years old my mother died from cancer. My Father taught us to work hard, be honest, and to gain a good education. As a mother of four boys I have tried to teach my children those same important values. Recently I went back to school for my Masters degree. I wanted my children to see that it is never too late to fulfill your dreams if you are willing to put forth the work and determination.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because at a very young age when I found myself missing my mother I found peace in learning that I could be with her again.Knowing that Heavenly Father knows me personally and that my Elder Brother Jesus Christ came to earth to fulfill Heavenly Fataher's plan gives me stregnth to obey the commandments and strive to live worthy of once again being in their presence. Reading the scriptures helps me to see that even those in earlier times struggle with some of the same things I struggle with. I believe that we have living prophets and apostles on the earth today and that following their counsel brings direction and purpose to my life. As a mother I can use that counsel to teach and guide my children. With recent disasters and problems in the world I look to the direction that living prophets give. I know that prayer is the way to communite with God and that he will send me answers to those prayers if I will only listen and follow the impressions I get from him. Sometimes when I am discouraged it is comforting to me when my children remind me to put my trust in my Heavenly Father and He will help me. I have seen that happen many times and I know that when I obey God's commandments, ask for help, and then trust, things do work out.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by finding opportunities to serve others. I enjoy the friendship of the women in my ward and love finding things I can help them with.I live my faith by attending my church meetings and fulfilling assignments that may be given to me. I spend time studying the words of my Savior Jesus Christ and trying to follow his teachings. I live my faith my helping my children understand the things I have learned and believe. I want my children to know how important it is to pray to their Heavenly Father daily to praise Him and to receive guidence. With the direction of my husband we hold Family Home Evenings where we can teach our children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My husband also leads us in Family Scrupture Study and Family Prayer on a daily basis. All these things hlep me and my family to stay strong in a world that is troublesome and at times hard to live in.
