Hi I'm Gary

I love sports. I own and manage a CPA firm and sell and support accounting software, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have been married to my sweetheart for 34 years. We have seven children; the oldest a farmer's wife now living in Idaho; the second a patent attorney for a firm in Virginia; the third an aerospace/astronautical engineer (rocket scientist) currently getting his masters and PHd at Standford University; the fourth a college senior who is completing his electrical engineering degree; the fifth currently a sophomore in chemical engineering and now serving an LDS mission in Mexico; the sixth just graduated from high school and on his way to college; and the seventh our 15 year-old daughter beginning her sophomore year in high school. We also have 5 beautiful grandchildren. As a family, we love to go boating and both water ski and fish. In the winter my family loves to snow ski as well. All of our children love and have participated in musical theater. When we can get together, we love to sing and share our talent by participating in church and community events. We also enjoy hiking together. My wife and I recently climbed a peak over 11,000 feet high. The hike was over 15 miles in length and took eight hours to complete. We also enjoy jogging together, riding bicycles, going to the theater, and cuddling up together to watch a sappy romantic comedy. We love spending holidays together and talk about all the fun times we have enjoyed over the years. We have had a very fulfilling life!

Why I am a Mormon

I have come to know for myself that Jesus is the Christ. The Book of Mormon is ANOTHER testament of the divinity of Christ's life and mission here on this earth. It validates and supports the writers and prophets of the Old and New Testaments. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are real, living, glorified beings. It is also just as true that the devil, or Satan, is a living being who uses every cunning way to deceive God's children. I have also come to know that the fullness of the Gospel was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. Because of this great restoration (which was prophesied in the Bible), all the keys of the priesthood have been restored. God's authority has been restored to the earth. As a result, temple blessing have been restored. Temple ordinances have once again been restored to the earth wherein covenants are made by worthy members of the church. In addition, such ordinances are extended to those who have passed before by proxies. The family is the most important societal unit created by God. The church recognizes and promotes the family. We recognize the sacredness of this divinely-sanctioned unit wherein children are loved and raised by a husband and wife who have committed themselves to this sacred union. The Lord has also again established prophets and apostles upon the earth, the same organization that was created and existed when Christ ministered upon the earth. Those who have been called to these holy callings reveal God's will. Hearkening to their counsel can only bring us peace, safety, and joy in our lives. For all of these reasons, I have been and continue to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I encourage all who read this post to sincerely study the Book of Mormon. When doing so, ask God, in the name of Jesus Christ, if those things written in that book are His words. If you sincerely ask, you will receive a witness that these things are true!

How I live my faith

I have served in our ward leadership in various organizations. I have been a priesthood leader at all levels of our local congregation. In addition, I have given leadership service to our young men's organizations. In addition I have held various teaching positions. I was even called to be choir director for our church for almost six years! I now serve as a church auditor, priesthood instructor, and temple ordinance worker. I donate over 30 to 40 hours to our church each month. In addition, our church organizations are actively engaged in giving community serving as well. We often contribute time and food to the local food bank, help beautify community parks, clean up public paths and walkways, etc. In such leadership and service opportunities I have served retirement homes, canoed and rafted the snake river, fished in lakes 10,000 feet high, organized service projects to benefit the homeless, the home-bound, and others down on their luck. These experiences mean more to me than anything I have been able to accomplish professionally.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The power to create children is very sacred. Our Father in Heaven has commanded that the sacred power and privilege of sexual relations be exercised only between a man and woman who are legally married. This is the law of chastity. It means that we must not have sexual relations before we are married, and after we are married we should have sexual relations only with our husband or wife. Keeping the law of chastity brings safety, happiness, peace, and self-respect. It also deepens married love and protects families. Breaking this law is serious. But those who have broken it can gain forgiveness and peace through repentance and obedience. God wants the best for you and for all of His children. Following God’s plan of reserving intimacy for marriage will help you and your family be happy. Show more Show less
