Hi I'm Emily

I love old black and white movies. Music and the outdoors complete my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the 2nd youngest of 8 children, which means there's always something exciting going on! I was born and raised in Utah until I headed for college in Idaho, studying Therapeutic Recreation. I have always loved being outside and being active. I played basketball growing up and then switched over when I got to 9th grade and played High School softball. I love all sports. When I went to college, I took a photography class and loved it. I love being able to capture memories and beautiful things around me. One of my most favorite things to do is watch old black and white movies. Basically, they're the best. I especially like the ones where they tap dance and sing--musicals warm my heart. I wish life was a musical! I play very little piano and strum random folk songs on my uke. I adore music.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been a member of the church my whole life, I have seen the way the gospel has blessed my life. It has not only blessed me, but it has blessed my family as a whole. I love being a part of my family. I love learning from and spending time with all of them. Family life is never perfect--that's why I'm so grateful for the teachings of Jesus Christ in my life! It has brought so much joy into our home. Even though we all have different interests and personalities, the gospel brings us together. From living the way I have been taught to live, I know it's true. It fills my heart like nothing else does. Nothing else compares to the joy I feel by actively being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to be the best that I can be. I believe that it starts with the little decisions we make everyday--our choices shape who we are. Personally, I try to serve others around me in even the smallest ways. I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ. His life was full of consistent service. I want to live my life in the same way. I don't want to just know about Christ's life and His goodness, but I want to act on that knowledge and live as He would have me live. I have had the opportunity to serve others in various capacities and it makes me happy. I know that the times where I have been the happiest in my life, were the times where I was serving others more. The best thing I have done in my life so far was work at a Girls Camp as a counselor for 12-14 year old girls. We participated in so many activities--archery, zipline, hikes, crafts, sports, skits, singing, campfires, cake fights, devotionals, etc. That job was a combination of everything I love! I had the opportunity to share with them the things that I know and cherish. I taught my campers about how we should live our lives in order for us to be happy. I wanted them to leave camp knowing that it's through the small things we do everyday that makes a difference. If I can help others follow Christ's example, I believe that I have successfully lived a good life.
