Hi I'm Ginger

I'm a Latter-day Saint. I spent most of my life in Maryland and live in Texas for now.

About Me

We are a big family, so I usually associate myself as a family member. I'm mother to seven, one is married and one is on a mission in Peru. I joined the church when the one in Peru was a baby.

Why I am a Mormon

There were many times I was given the opportunity to learn about the church and to be baptized. I kept backing away but finally realized that the reason I kept reaching for the church was because I knew it was true, I could feel the love of my Savior, in a way, beckoning to me, to come to church. When I finally had had enough of the world and doing things my way, after discussions with the missionaries, I was baptized. That was 20 years ago.

How I live my faith

As a leader at church in the women's organization, I work with other women as we strive to learn the teachings of our Savior and applying the principles of the Gospel to our daily lives. One of the ways we do this is by looking out for each other, helping each other in times of need, taking a meal to a family when the mom is sick, or helping a family move in.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They will show concern for your well being, they will ask you questions about what you know about God and Jesus Christ maybe. They will teach you through the scriptures. They will ask you what your thoughts are on things such as, do you believe there is a God? Do you believe there is life after death? What do you believe happens to us after we die? They will lead you through the scriptures, The Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon, showing you the answers and how the Bible and The Book of Mormon correspond to each other. They truly want to know what your thoughts and feelings are on things pertaining to heaven, eternal life, sin, the atonement of Jesus Christ and how it applies to you. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

It's a good thing to come wearing your best. Guys wear slacks, nice shoes, dress shirts and ties and the women and young women wear dresses/skirts. We dress modestly. The children are usually dressed closely to what their parents are wearing. Saying we celebrate holidays...it's not like we have big parties at church on these holidays. We honor Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ at Christmas time and Easter, we may have a church dinner on a day other than Sunday for Christmas. It is always a wonderful time to go to church, to see how we worship, to hear the hymns, if you're not a member. We always celebrate our birthdays in our family, and our wedding anniversary. We remember our American heritage and celebrate our national holidays like the 4th of July. Show more Show less
