Hi I'm Pete

I'm from Washington, Iowa, as were my parents. I am the only one in my family that is or has been a Mormon.

About Me

I am the only Mormon in my family as far as I know. I first learned about the church after graduating from High School in Washington and attending a small 2 year college for awhile before transferring to the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, Iowa. I worked for a number of years in the banking industry, in the biggest bank in Iowa, in their Trust Department. Returning to the Washington law firm in 1980, until I finally decided to move on to something more interesting. While in Iowa City working in a technology enterprise, I came in contact with a guy I was provide services to in the state of Utah who was (of course) a Mormon and a former missionary. We chatted and he asked me for my phone number and address. I told him that I had attended a small 2 year school for a short time after high school to get some classes out of the way before transferring to the University of Iowa and that the small school was located in Carthage, Illinois. It was there that I learned about this guy named Joseph Smith, and that he had died right there in Carthage over a hundred years earlier. I was inquisitive and they gave me a book of Mormon. I don't remember ever seeing a missionary, so I was surprised when a couple of them knocked on my door a few days later. Turned out they only lived about a block from me.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, it made sense. Many of the things that I found out of place in my former religion were more to my liking in the LDS teachings. I am the only Mormon in my family as far as I know. How I live my faith

I don't defend my faith or my politics, I declare them both
